An increasing number of Tinseltown celebrities have come together to demand the resignation of President Donald Trump from office while criticizing his administration's response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The trend was reportedly initiated by 'Star Trek' actor and left-wing activist George Takei.

“The president needs to resign," he wrote on Twitter Wednesday, sparking a chain reaction of retweets by numerous progressive activists and groups who repeated Takei's post in verbatim.

'Two and a Half Men' star Jon Cryer picked up one of those retweets and passed on the message to his followers.

This was followed by 'Wings' actor Steven Weber, who echoed Cryer's call for the president to resign.

Weber's post was picked up by 'Full Metal Jacket' star Matthew Modine, who remarkably tweeted, “The president needs to resign” more than ten times on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, his 'Full Metal Jacket' co-star Vincent D’Onofrio also joined the celebrity brigade against Trump.

Others who passed the message along included actor Kirk Acevedo, screenwriter Callie Khouri, and actor-comedian Christopher Titus.

This isn't the first time Hollywood stars have lambasted the president over his alleged mishandling of the crisis.

Trump's travel ban on Europe after the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 a global pandemic was met with similar celebrity reactions.

Actress Rosanna Arquette tweeted that "his Psychosis has become normalized this is more dangerous than ever  the evil empire must go  ..vote blue no  matter what."

"At this point, we’re objectively better off ignoring this address. Zero trust. Zero transparency. Zero clarity," actor Jeffrey Wright wrote at the time. "Every time he speaks on this he drenches himself in toxic self-interest. Disastrous. What’s the point in fooling ourselves? This is dangerous now and always has been."

Actress Patricia Arquette chimed in saying, "Trump is admitting right now it is a Pandemic and claiming that he had initiated the swiftest response."

While actor Ethan Embry added, "This will continue to spread at the same exact pace it is today. He’s not doing anything. None of this will slow it down."
