LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY: The country remains scarred by the Louisville shooting, where a gunman killed five colleagues and injured eight others at the bank where he worked. The attack, carried out by Connor Sturgeon, lasted just 12 minutes, during which he targeted his co-workers and opened fire at their desks.

While the motive behind Sturgeon's attack remains unclear, his family has released a statement indicating that they are fully aware of the gravity of the situation. Sturgeon's family has expressed deep regret and sorrow over the "unthinkable harm" he inflicted on innocent people in the Louisville shooting, saying they feel anguish and horror about what has happened. As the nation continues to grapple with the aftermath of yet another mass shooting, it is a reminder that the impact of such tragedies extends far beyond the victims and their families.

'No words can express our sorrow, anguish, and horror'

A release from the family stated, "No words can express our sorrow, anguish, and horror at the unthinkable harm our son Connor inflicted on innocent people, their families, and the entire Louisville community. We mourn their loss and that of our son, Connor. We pray for everyone traumatized by his senseless acts of violence and are deeply grateful for the bravery and heroism of the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department."

Connor Sturgeon 'had mental health challenges'

The statement continued, "While Connor, like many of his contemporaries, had mental health challenges which we, as a family, were actively addressing, there were never any warning signs or indications he was capable of this shocking act. While we have many unanswered questions, we will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement officials and do all we can to aid everyone in understanding why and how this happened."
