Louisville mass shooting: Inside gunman Connor Sturgeon's idyllic family life before he shot dead 4
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY: Connor Sturgeon, the 23-year-old mass shooter who shot dead four and injured eight others at the Old National Bank before dying in a confrontation with police, seemed to lead a normal life with family and friends. Pictures of him posted on his mother Lisa Sturgeon's Facebook account shows Connor dressed for prom, with his date for the event. He was also pictured as an infant, with his basketball team from high school and many others, that looked seemingly normal.
Connor reportedly started firing around 8.30 am on Monday, April 10, which was live-streamed. The police responded within three minutes and shot him during an exchange of gunfire. Paul Humphrey, the deputy chief of the Louisville Metro Police Department, said when they arrived on the scene, “they encountered the suspect almost immediately, still firing gunshots.” And added, "We believe this is a lone gunman involved in this that did have a connection to the bank," reports The New York Times.

Who was Connor Sturgeon?
Connor worked as a summer intern for the Old National Bank for three consecutive years. Then he accepted a full-time position in June 2021 as a commercial development professional 2021 and was listed, per his LinkedIn profile, as a portfolio banker since 2022 for the same bank, reports New York Post. Connor graduated from the University of Alabama in December 2020 and got described as "extremely intelligent” by the manager at the bank, Rebecca Buchheit-Sims.
He was described by a friend and former teammate from Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, as smart, popular, and a star athlete in high school track, football, and basketball. Connor was known as 'Mr Floyd Central,' the friend said, who wished to remain anonymous. He added, “I know everyone always says this about shooters but I truly would have never expected it to be him." And then narrated how Connor always wore a helmet during basketball games because he suffered multiple concussions. “The big thing I keep going back to is that in the first year of high school, we played football together in eighth grade, he was out most of the year because he had multiple concussions. Then he had a couple more in high school. I’m not saying it’s the cause but I always think back to that… There were times I’d wonder, will this catch up with him? But never in this way. He’s the last person I'd expect would do this," as per The Daily Beast.
