Update: The suspect Omar James McCombs allegedly fired a gun in the comedy club and threatened to kill audience members ahead of a Craig Robinson show. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department revealed that McCombs threatened the crowd saying, "Get out of here if you don't want to die," before firing at least one shot.
McCombs was charged with five counts of assault by pointing a gun, one count of discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, among other charges. His bonds total $90,000, according to Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office arrest records.

Comedian Craig Robinson canceled his North Carolina show at a comedy club after a gunman opened fire at the venue. According to TMZ, the actor and TV host was told to flee as the gunman stormed into the club and asked everyone to leave before causing mayhem. Craig was reportedly in his green room when the horrific incident took place. The shooter was later arrested. The shooter has been identified as a 36-year-old man named Omar James McCombs. According to WSOC-TV, Omar has been hit with multiple charges in connection to the shooting.
Craig, who is best known for his work in ‘The Office’ and as a host on ‘The Masked Dancer’, pulled the plug on the show as gunshots were heard at the comedy club around 9 pm on Saturday, July 16. The news comes a day after a 28-year-old individual threatened to open fire at Yo Gotti’s concert. The man identified as Elijah Hyman was charged with the Commission of the Act of Terrorism. He was confiscated from the venue with several weapons in possession. Hyman reportedly took this step after he and his girlfriend broke up.

Is Craig Robinson OK?
Craig was gearing up for his show in the green room at the North Carolina comedy club when the incident happened. The 50-year-old comedian was safely evacuated from the exit gates. The actor later took to Instagram to share his experience. In his post, Craig stated, “About last night….Thank you to the Comedy Zone security and staff for getting us to safety quickly.” He continued, “Thank you everyone for outpouring your support and well wishes.” Craig in his post added, “Thank you CPMD for swift action in apprehending the shooter. Hopefully, he will get the help he needs. Thanks be to God no one was hurt.” He concluded, “Please stay safe everyone."
Before the thanking note, Craig also posted a close-to-six-minute video showing his fans and followers the chaos that ensued at the venue. In the video, he stated, “I’m performing at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina. There was an active shooter in the comedy club. So, they moved us over to this- there’s a concert going on so I thought I’d just share with y’all.” He added, “I’m safe. I’m cool. It was wild I was in the green room and they’re like ‘everybody get out!’ It was a moment for sure."
