Colin Firth and wife Livia Giuggioli announce separation after 22 years of marriage
Colin Firth, famous among other things for his role in 'Love Actually', and his wife Livia Giuggioli have announced their separation after 22 years of staying together. Firth and Giuggioli have two children together and this announcement has come two years after Giuggioli, an Italian producer, confessed to having a past affair with one of her stalkers.
They released a statement through their representative which read, "Colin and Livia Firth have separated. They maintain a close friendship and remain united in their love for their children. They kindly ask for privacy. There will be no further comment."
In 2018, a statement about this affair with Marco Brancaccia was released to E! News which stated, "A few years ago Colin and Livia privately made the decision to separate. During that time Livia briefly became involved with former friend Mr. Brancaccia. The Firths have since reunited."
Furthermore, the statement continued "Subsequently, Mr. Brancaccia carried out a frightening campaign of harassment over several months, much of which is documented. As a consequence of his stalking, threats and refusal to desist, the legal complaint was lodged with the Italian authorities."
The statement was released after details of a police investigation into the matter of stalking were made public. Brancaccia, an Italian journalist denied the allegations about stalking.
Firth and Giuggioli are parents to sons Luca Firth, 18, and Matteo Firth, 16. Firth and Giuggioli's love story is comparable to Firth's story in the famous movie 'Love Actually' where Firth's character falls in love with a girl who doesn't understand his language. The actor has been trending on social media after the divorce announcement and fans are rooting for their favorite Mr. Darcy.
