NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Colin Farrell looked unrecognizable with prosthetics as he was photographed on the streets of Manhattan for the first time after reprising his role as The Penguin for 'The Batman' spin-off on Monday morning, March 6. The 46-year-old actor appeared in full facial makeup that included a double chin and pockmarked skin as he sets out to play the supervillain in the highly-anticipated HBO Max limited series.

Filming for the spin-off series where Farrell plays the DC villain, who is also known as Oswald 'Oz' Chesterfield Cobblepot, commences only weeks after his eye-grabbing public appearance. The Oscar-nominated actor looked just as he did in the 2022 action film starring Robert Pattinson on his walk. Moreover, the prosthetics made his face look heavier with unsmooth facial blotches and a receding hairline. The actor, whose bushy eyebrows and luscious hair was obscured with the help of cosmetics, sported a purple blazer over a crisp white dress shirt. For the lower half, he wore black trousers which matched the suspenders and finally completed the whole ensemble with black shoes.

Colin Farrell gushes over makeup artists

Farrell teased in early January that he was starring in the new spinoff series to Variety. “There was all this extraordinary work done by [makeup artists] Mike Marino and Mike Fontaine and his team and I just thought it was the tip of the iceberg, pardon the pun, that we were getting to do the six or seven scenes that we did in the film. I was grateful for them, but I wanted more,” he told the outlet. “Honest to God, any thought I had about an extended series was to do with Mike Marino’s work,” the actor stated, gushing over the cosmetics genius. “I just knew there was so much to do with it — age it up, age it down. He’s just such a genius, Mike, so it was his work that was the inspiration, really.”

Filming expected to last through mid-2023

According to Daily Mail, the filming for the HBO Max show will likely last at least through mid-2023. At the time of writing, not much is known about the plot of the limited series. However, it may take up from where the film had left off which is with Gotham in utter chaos following the death of crime boss Carmine Falcone.
