Christina Hendricks and husband Geoffrey Arend split after 12 years together but vow to raise their dogs together
Christina Hendricks and Geoffrey Arend have announced that they will be splitting up after being married for 10 years.
The 44-year-old 'Mad Men' star took to her Instagram to announce that she and 41-year-old Arend have decided to go their separate ways.
The now-former couple shared an identical message on their social media which read, "Today we take our next step together, but on our separate paths".
"We will always be grateful for the love we've shared and will always work together to raise our two beautiful dogs," the message continued.
The post explained how the pair had fallen in love around 12 years ago and had "joined our two amazing families, had countless laughs, made wonderful friends and were blessed with incredible opportunities".
They went on to ask for some space in order to rediscover themselves. "We will be taking time to rediscover ourselves in this transition and we thank you for your patience and support in giving us the space to do so," the message added.
The pair had gotten married in 2009 in New York and have no children together. They had been introduced to each other through Hendricks' 'Mad Men' co-star Vincent Kartheiser.
Hendricks had revealed how she was immediately attracted to him. While speaking to Cosmopolitan, she shared, "Geoffrey walked in and I was like, 'Who is this guy?'"
"He had amazing hair and was all disheveled — he was running late and everyone was waiting for him. He just came in with this very high energy," she said.
She shared how he was very charming and their connection was magnetic. In a later interview in 2014, she revealed that the couple had decided against having children.
"It seems like it's expected that you'd want to have kids. It's just very normal for people to say, 'Well when you guys have kids...'. And then when I say, "Actually I don't think we're going to do that," people will say, "Oh, you say that now..." It doesn't bother me, though".
