LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Christian Bale turned 49 on January 30, 2023. The Oscar winner is praised for his dedication to his roles, despite starring in films that cover a wide range of genres. From crime-fighting vigilante millionaire Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan's 'Dark Knight' trilogy to deranged Patrick Bateman in the thriller/horror 'American Psycho.' Bale has played several legendary characters.

The 'Amsterdam' star claims he was determined not to get married, but quickly changed his mind after meeting his wife Sibi Blazic. Coming from a family riddled with divorces, the 38-year-old actor reportedly did not think much of the institution. However, 'The Pale Blue Eye' actor changed his mind when he met make-up artist Sandra 'Sibi' Blazic, whom he then married in 2000.

The actor has gone through some impressive changes over the years, from playing the spindly Trevor in 'The Machinist' to his portlier role in 'Vice.' Despite all these changes, his wife Sibi has remained by his side. He told PEOPLE, "She's had to be married to so many different characters over our marriage … I know it truly would be impossible to do it without her. She's such a good, strong woman."

'I met Sibi and suddenly it seemed a fantastic idea'

Bale's early life was marked by the divorce of several couples in his family, including his parents, who divorced in 1991. Fortunately, he met Sibi, who demonstrated that marriage is not necessarily doomed and hopeless. He said, "I never planned to marry. Everyone was divorced in my family so I didn't have very healthy ideas about marriage. Then I met Sibi and suddenly it seemed a fantastic idea." He says his wife of 22 years "completes" him.

Bale and his wife have been happily married since 2000. Sibi worked in Hollywood as Winona Ryder's personal assistant before meeting the 'Ford vs Ferrari' star. The two met through a mutual friend and dated for several years before tying the knot in Las Vegas in 2000. Bale said of his wife, "I suddenly found that I'd met somebody and I said, 'I'm not gonna sit here saying, 'Oh no, I'm not ready,' and regret not having done this later on and the possibility of not having this person around."

'I've got incredible pride for my family'

The pair welcomed their first child, Emmeline, in 2005. Bale acknowledged that parenting suited him considerably better than he had anticipated after they welcomed their daughter. The Golden Globe winner dished, "It's all about my girls: my wife and my daughter. I carry a picture of them with me all the time. I've got incredible pride for my family." The couple had their second child, Joseph, in 2014. Bale went from being a single man with no intention of getting married to a joyful father of two who talked endlessly about his kids. The actor opened up about his new role, saying, "And nothing can prepare you for fatherhood. It's the best thing ever."

Bale talked openly in 2022 about how his kids' film preferences had influenced his recent casting decisions. Even if his children don't like his gloomy, dramatic productions, they supported him in making 'Thor: Love and Thunder'. In the end, the actor enjoyed the Marvel franchise film, and his kids enjoyed seeing him in it.
