Chris March, fashion designer and 'Project Runaway' alum, dies from heart attack aged 56
'Project Runaway' star Chris March who was a costume designer and dressed celebrities such as Lady Gaga and Meryl Streep among others passed away Thursday afternoon after suffering from a heart attack.
According to a report in TMZ, sources close to March's family revealed that while he had been in and out of the hospital in the past year, the heart attack was a surprise to both his doctors and family. The finalist of 'Project Runaway' who appeared also in 'Project Runway All Stars' reportedly designed clothes until the end.
'Bravo's Andy Cohen shared a post on Instagram about March and wrote, "This is how I’m going to remember Chris March, dressed as Lisa Vanderpump as I wear a Giggy costume he made for one of our first Halloween specials. Chris was a finalist on Season 4 of Project Runway. He designed for everyone from Beyoncé, Gaga, Madonna, Meryl, Prince and many legendary downtown drag queens (And Sonja Morgan!). He had a big booming laugh; he was a joy and delight. #RIP."
March had suffered a nasty fall two years ago and as a result, was in a coma for two months. A GoFundMe page was started on his behalf and $60,000 was raised for March's hospital bills. After he came out of the coma, in an interview, March said, "I came close to death many times—they called my family and they were told if they wanted to say goodbye to come right away."
Recently, March updated his GoFundMe page about his medical condition and said, "I am also in need of leg braces, specialized physical therapy, a hearing aid, and a new living arrangement. Where I am now is unbearable and makes me anxious and depressed every day. I have considered suicide many times. I have tried my best to make strides."
