'Chicago PD' Season 7 Episode 17: Voight teaches rogue Homicide detective a lesson and fans cheer him on
Spoilers for 'Chicago PD' Season 7 Episode 17 'Before the Fall'
This week's episode of 'Chicago PD' centered on Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) as he came across a site with one man murdered and a 10-year-old girl shot. Though Voight did his best to keep the girl alive and the ambulance rushed her to the hospital, the girl later succumbed to her injuries.
When Voight is working the crime scene, a Homicide detective shows up telling Voight that Homicide will take over the case. Voight refuses to budge and continues to work the crime scene. However, the police chief later tells him that the Intelligence Unit has to work with Homicide on the case.
Voight has a CI in the neighborhood who helps him solve the murders. When the Homicide detective starts working with the team, he disobeys a direct order from Voight, putting Voight's officer and his CI in danger.
At the end of the episode, the detective tells Voight that he went by the book but Voight is enraged at the man's actions. When the detective continues speaking back to him, Voight punches him.
'Chicago PD' fans know not to mess with Voight and cheered him on as they felt he taught the Homicide detective a lesson. One fan tweeted, "#ChicagoPD He should have known better, Voight does not play, best to follow his instructions, or..."
Another wrote, "Voight is not somebody you start something with man you're screwed now #chicagopd (sic)." One viewer said, "Never put one of Sergeant Hank Voight's people in unnecessary danger. #ChicagoPD #OneChicago."
One fan tweeted, "1 of the main reasons we love Voight... don't mess with my people or squad... @JasonBeghe rocked that scene.. mic dropped.. #ChicagoPD." Another wrote, "OMG! OMG! OMG! That shocked the heck out of me! Way to go Voight! #ChicagoPD #OneChicago."
A fan said, "Hank Voight demonstrating if he gives you a direct order you follow it or your ass is getting dropped no questions asked. Also who the hell does that guy think he is talking to Sergeant Hank Voight like that. The team didn't even lift a finger to help him up Lol."
However, some fans sympathized with the Homicide detective, with one writing, "I’m a little conflicted like I understand the homicide officer went against Voight’s order but they would’ve kept beating Frank up like to me there wasn’t a way to de-escalate that #ChicagoPD."
'Chicago PD' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights at 10/9c.
