'Chicago Fire' Season 8 fall finale: Dawsey reunion leaves fans in tears as Dawson and Casey finally get closure
Fans got to see the much-awaited return of Monica Raymund's Gabby Dawson in this week's episode of 'Chicago Fire'. The episode was also the midseason finale and we won't get new episodes of the show until January 2020.
When Gabby returned, she said she was forced to return to Chicago to attend a fundraiser. However, Matthew Casey — her ex-husband — finds out later that she chose to come to Chicago and that she did so because she really wanted to see him.
Clearly, there were a lot of unresolved feelings between the two characters, which led them to share a beautiful dance and then spend the night together. Though Casey sneaked out the next morning, it seemed like the two characters perhaps got a sense of closure they did not get before.
Fans loved the dance scene and the Dawsey reunion in the episode. One fan tweeted, "@derekhaas that dance scene was so speechless. I can't find any words to describe. @NBCChicagoFire #ChicagoFire #Dawsey." Another fan added, "The music is beautiful. The slow dancing, miss that. Now the hot and heavy sex. And then she will break his heart again #ChicagoFire."
But fans were left conflicted knowing Gabby was to leave again. One fan wrote, "ugh, I like Gabby being back, but I don't like her being back. If she's just going to leave again, she never should have come back. Casey deserves to be happy, not have his heart broken again and again. #ChicagoFire."
Once Gabby left however, fans felt a shift in things too, though some were left heartbroken. One fan tweeted, "You guys are KILLING ME! I don't know if I can survive Gabby and Matt again! It hurts too much! #thefeels #ChicagoFire," while another fan wrote, "So can that just be goodbye for good now for Dawsey? Please and thank you. #ChicagoFire."
'Chicago Fire' will return for new episodes of Season 8 on January 8, 2020.
