Chet Hanks sparks backlash over 'White boy summer' remark, Internet wonders if 'he really is Tom Hanks' son'

Tom Hanks’ son Chet Hanks has time and again courted controversies and continuing making headlines for all the wrong reasons, the Hollywood icon’s son has found himself in a soup again. The 30-year-old actor and musician recently took to his Instagram account to share a video where he claimed he is getting a feeling that this summer is going to be a “white boy summer.”
The ‘Your Honor’ actor can be seen sitting in a car facing the camera. In the post shared to his IG wall, he says, “Ok guys, I just wanted to tap-in real quick. I just got this feeling man that this summer is about to be a white boy summer.” He added, “Take it how you want. I am not talking about [Donald] Trump or the NASCAR-type white. I am talking about me, Jon B and Jack Harlow- type white summer.” Chet concluded, “Let me know how you vibe with that. Get ready, cos I am.” He captioned the video as “Is it bout to be a #WhiteboySummer or am I trippin ???? Tag a REAL vanilla king #Respectfully” The video soon triggered a debate on the Internet as he received a lot of flak for his “white boy summer” remarks.
Chet Hanks’ earlier controversies
Chet Hanks gained public attention in January 2020 when he was spotted at the Golden Globes ceremony with his actor dad Tom Hanks. He was slammed for cultural appropriation as he was papped talking to his friends in a Jamaican accent. Chet once also described himself as the “Black sheep” of his family due to his public controversies and father Tom Hanks’ clean image as “American’s dad.” The actor also made headlines in 2015 when he defended his use of the N-word. In a series of Instagram stories, as reported by CNN, the aspiring rapper then said, “Hip-hop isn't about race. It's about the culture you identify with. In another video, Chet said the n-word is “an unspoken thing between people who are friends, who understand each other.” Chester, whose real name is Chester Hanks was once again in news in 2015 when he checked into rehab for his cocaine addiction.

Speaking on the same lines, one user said, “Is this Hanks boy? I am SOOOOOOOOO tired of him.” Another questioned, “White boy summer? What does this mean? He finna be a mass shooter? I’m confused.” One user added, “Okay but how do I get ready for white boy summer? He didn't give instructions.”
The next one posted, “But what does #whiteboysummer even mean, though? Is Travis Kelce going to get an OnlyFans? Is John Cena finally going to gain that weight back and get a haircut? Is Justin Bieber going to borrow some vibranium knees? I got questions.” One added, “Someone just needs to stick something in it to keep him quiet.” Another concluded, “Imagine your name being Chet. I would incite as much chaos as possible purely out of spite.”
