Former X-Factor judge Cheryl's waxwork removed from Madame Tussauds because ‘she is no longer relevant’
Britain’s sweetheart and former X-Factor judge Cheryl’s waxwork has been removed from the Madame Tussauds' attractions section as authorities believe that she “is no longer relevant enough” to be displayed in their museum.
Cheryl who became a household name after being a member of the popular female musical troupe Girls Aloud has seen her fame wane over the years. She was at the peak of her career for most of the 2000s.
Cheryl’s waxwork was installed in the prestigious museum in 2010. Over the years, several changes have been made to her waxwork, to keep up with her ever-changing style.
The last change was in 2014 when the sculptors added replicas of the rings given to the singer by ex-husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini and updated her style.
Originally her waxwork featured her in a stunning glittery red cutout gown with a tiara. Her entire outfit and style were changed in 2014 when her red gown was traded in for a shimmery gold halter blouse and fitted black trousers, her hairstyle too was changed from loose waves with a tiara to a sleek bun.
The Sun reported that bosses at the London attraction have taken her waxwork down because they fear she "may no longer be relevant" and are “storing [it] in the London archives”.
A representative for the museum told the newspaper the measure was not an “uncommon” thing to do with certain figures “as from time to time we do change who we have in the attraction”.
The representative also added, “We are constantly reviewing our collection of figures to best represent what our visitors want to see.”
While fans may not be able to see the beauty in Madame Tussauds, they can catch her on BBC One’s upcoming show ‘The Greatest Dancer’.
As her divorce with restaurateur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini was being finalized, she began dating ‘One Direction’ star Liam Payne.
The couple announced their split in 2018. They have a child together.
She released her fifth studio album in 2018, which peaked at number 19 in UK and 32 in Ireland.
The album failed to make an impact on the charts that the singer was hoping for.
