Cherilyn Sarkisian, widely known as Cher, 76, recently opened up about her multiple miscarriages as a newlywed on Twitter. The singer revealed that she had her first miscarriage when she was 18 and married to fellow musician Sonny Bono.

"When I was young I had three miscarriages. [The] first at 18. I was alone in our house. Son [Sonny] came home and I was sobbing and rocking on our floor," Cher wrote on Twitter. "When I got to the Dr, I was screaming in pain. Couldn't even stop in elevator."

"Dr sent me straight to hospital and into operating room. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO ME TODAY," Cher pondered. Her remarks come after the historic Roe v Wade ruling was overturned by the US Supreme Court, striking a fatal blow to women's right to abortion.

Many of Cher's admirers felt empathetic and shared their own experiences as one fan wrote, "I happen something similar, very sad but always and said that god is perfect and knows why he does things. I have many nephews that I love and for me, that is the best gift from God."

"I'm sorry to hear about that mama lovely, miscarriages are hard to deal with. I had a really bad one 6 months after I had my son. We sometimes keep track of how old they would have been," another fan opened up.

In response to Cher, one person wrote, "I've been pregnant 11 times - the result of being trafficked. miscarriages, terminations, and 2 live births. All before I hit my late 20s. And I'm not the only one. Every circumstance is different and every circumstance deserves to be handled with care and respect. We deserve healthcare," to which another person replied, "You are a true survivor. You are exceptional, but also proof of why yours and every other woman's rights need protection."

Another person gave their perspective on miscarriages and the overturning of Roe v. Wade and wrote, "You would still be treated at the hospital as this would be a true medical emergency." In response, someone wrote, "Google Texas and the 9 women that had miscarriages that they had to wait 10 days to treat then, due to there was a miscarriage but still a heartbeat. You don't know what you're talking about."

The 'Believe' singer has been vocal about her displeasure with the decision and tweeted, "Republicans are trying to make it illegal for a woman to leave her state to get an abortion. Republicans will make prisoners/chattel of American women. How do Republicans plan to track our sisters? Maybe they'll inject microchips into them like they do with dogs."

Chaz Bono, 53, and Elijah Blue Allman, 46, are two children Cher had later on in life. Cher previously talked about her trouble conceiving and subsequent miscarriages with Parade magazine in 2010.

"It's a spontaneous miscarriage, something that spontaneously aborts the fetus. It's called an angry uterus," she told the magazine. "After the third time, it got to be a nightmare. People would be congratulating me because I was pregnant, and then I wouldn't be, and then they would be like, 'Oh, we're so sorry.' I thought, 'God, I don't want to have to hear this anymore.'"

In the pro-choice movie titled 'If These Walls Could Talk', the 'Haven't Seen the Last of Me' star also portrayed the character of an abortion doctor. The 1996 movie, which also starred Sissy Spacek and Demi Moore, was groundbreaking for its open and complex depiction of abortion.
