'Outer Banks' stars Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline have reportedly broken up. Stokes, 29, and Cline, 23, have called it quits after dating each other for more than a year. The duo had met while filming the first season of 'Outer Banks', a Netflix hit.

"Madelyn and Chase are no longer together," a source confirmed to PEOPLE. "They were trying to work things out privately but broke up a couple of months ago." "They are definitely broken up," another source said about the 'Outer Banks' stars.

Stokes and Cline did not make their relationship official until June 2020, when Stokes shared a picture of the two of them having dinner on a beach, captioning it, "Cats outta the bag." Cline reshared Stokes' post, writing, "I've fallen and I can't get up."

Cline opened up about being in a relationship with Stokes later that year. "It's really cool. Love is tight," she told Entertainment Tonight. "It's cool to share this experience with your favorite people and also your favorite person. … I feel very happy." 

Stokes earlier spoke to PEOPLE about getting to work alongside his partner. "It's been a lot of fun to drive together to work, come home and throw ideas off of each other about different scenes, collaborating, watching her get excited about her work and be her cheerleader," Stokes had said. "The beautiful thing for us is that our relationship was established as friends and coworkers prior to what we have now. The biggest difference now is I get to be even more proud of her as my partner when I watch her work. "Especially this year, not just her, but everybody in the show has increased their performances and worked super hard on everything that we're doing right now. I'm in the background, kind of like a stage mom, watching her absolutely crush it and going, 'That was awesome!'" In April, the former couple celebrated their one-year anniversary. 

Social media users expressed their shock and disappointment upon learning about the duo's split. "I've came to the realization that Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes broke up, I didn't want to think that way but I'm really starting to think that they actually broke up. I hope they're just taking a break and aren't officially broken up," one user wrote on Twitter. "I still cant believe they broke up anyways tho wanna wish both madelyn cline and chase stokes the best of luck in the future still love them appreciate them give them space still be kind to them it's a really hard time for both of them," another user wrote.
