FARMINGTON, UTAH: Farmington Police Department has now released the bodycam footage of their encounter with the 25-year-old Chase Allan. The incident led to massive shootings by the police which eventually led to the death of the young boy.

The 25-year-old was inside his blue BMW 3-Series car parked outside a local post office at the time of the incident. An official statement released by the department mentioned that Allan had a gun with him. “An empty holster can be seen on Mr. Allan’s right hip and a handgun can be seen lying on the driver-side floorboard of the vehicle,” said Police Chief H Eric Johnsen.

'It breaks my heart': Protest march and vigil held for Chase Allan who was gunned down by cops

Allan was reportedly pulled over by cops due to an illegitimate license plate, but when officers approached him, he seemingly rolled down the window a few inches and “refused to provide identification or cooperate with the officer in any way," per the statement.

What was the content of the bodycam video?

In the video, we can see police coming in for a routine check-up. Police questioned regarding why a "placard" was placed on the rear of the vehicle instead of a license plate. The police can also be seen explaining that he was pulled over due to a lack of registration in the vehicle. Allan also said, "I don't need registration and I don't answer questions." The conversation goes on, "So, here's the deal man, I'm stopping you because there's no registration on your vehicle, and I'm requesting your identification," the officer tells Allan. "You are detained at this time and you are not free to leave." Watch the videos here.

The police can also be seen stating, "If you want my identification you'll be under arrest and you accept surety and trustingship over it," Allan is heard saying. "Meaning you will be responsible for any debts you're trying to incur here." Later, the officer explains, "Do you want to identify yourself or do you want to go a different route," after which he shows the officer his passport. Later, other officers joined the officer who was checking his passport. "Step out of the car for me," the initial officer ordered. To which Allan responded," No," "Sir, step out of the vehicle right now," the officer orders again. "No, I am not required to," he said. Later, the police tell each other there was a holster under his coat. One of the police officers opened the door and the other one was seen trying to remove Allan from the vehicle. An officer in the team can be seen yelling, "gun." after which shots can be heard from various corners. "Cease fire" is then said by an officer. When Allan is removed from his vehicle, he can be seen with a holster on his hip that is empty and a gun is located on the floor of the vehicle. Hence, it justifies the statement of the police that he possessed a gun during the routine stop.

What did the Farmington Police say about shooting Chase Allan?

The footage of the body cameras worn by the officers were released after an investigation being handled by the Davis County Critical Protocol Team. The Farmington police had clarified via a press release on Friday, March 2 how a body-worn camera showed Allan roll down his window only a few inches and refuse to provide identification or cooperate with them. Farmington police said their officers had tried multiple times to persuade Allan to exit the vehicle, however, he allegedly continued to be uncooperative. Then when one of the officers reportedly opened the door to the car another attempted to remove Allan from the car. A third officer who allegedly spotted the firearm yelled out the words, “gun, gun, gun!,” which prompted a struggle between Allan and the officers there for a few seconds. After that, gunshots could be heard.

In contrast to this, the initial statement by the slain man's family blamed the Farmington police clearly. The family called Allan’s death a brutal murder and questioned the police's version of the events before the footage was released. “We have learned more from media coverage about what occurred than anywhere else right now,” the statement says. “Officers claim it was a routine traffic stop, yet the officer requested multiple other officers to the scene a couple blocks prior to the stop. This resulted in the brutal murder of Chase at the hands of 5 Farmington Police officers, with them shooting him while he was still in his automobile and likely terrified for his safety. They shot 12 plus rounds at him while he was still inside the car with the engine running and lights on when reporters arrived.”

'Just listen to the police'

The Internet quickly reacted to the video. A user said, " I mean; the guy was an idiot, but that doesn’t merit getting shot. If being stupid was a Capital offense then we’d all be dead…" Another added, "He was a member of the American States National movement and did not believe that it mattered to have a license to drive and correct plates. And still not sure as to whether he pulled a gun or not." "Has a gun and threatens if they try and force him out of the car there will be an issue. 12 shots from four officers wanting to prevent this narcissist from shooting them sounds like the issue he predicted," said a user. Someone questioned, "Was someone or some group that “Groomed” him?." "Unfortunately this had to happen. Just listen to the police. If you have nothing to hide you will be fine. Feel for the that kid and his family," added another. "It’s too bad the way this ended! I’d love to not have to register my vehicle, have a drivers license, purchase car insurance or pay taxes! The officers were professional and respectful," said a user."Sad he had to die over a ticket…," added a user.
