FARMINGTON, UTAH: Chase Allan, 25, was fatally shot 12 times during a traffic stop followed by a police shootout. He was gunned down by five policemen from the Farmington Police Department in Davis County, Utah, on Wednesday, March 1, inside his blue BMW 3-Series, parked outside a local post office.

Following his death, Farmington Police Department released a statement detailing the fatal shooting of Chase Allan. An investigation is ongoing and the five police officers involved in the incidents are currently placed on administrative leave. Chief H Eric Johnsen claimed they intend to “release this video to the public at the earliest opportunity. In the meantime, we provide this statement with insight as to what the body-worn cameras captured.”

The statement claimed, on the day of the tragic incident, a Farmington police officer attempted a traffic stop with a car that had an illegitimate license plate around 3.22 pm on Wednesday. Chase inside his blue BMW 3-Series entered a parking stall at the US Post Office at 145 State Street. When the officer approached, Chase for an inquiry he seemingly rolled down the window a few inches and “refused to provide identification or cooperate with the officer in any way,” Chief Johnsen said, according to KSL TV.

“The driver asserted his independence from the laws of the land as well as his belief that he was not required to provide information to the officer, nor was he required to cooperate.” Due to Chase's lack of corporation, the officer called for assistance and continued to provide the driver with options. A supervisor, two officers, and a trainee assigned to one of the responding officers reported to the scene according to the source.

The report stated, the officers attempted to Chase to cooperate and ordered him to exit the car. Despite repeated warnings, the 25-year-old refused, and an officer opened the door to the car while another attempted to remove Chase from the vehicle, which is when things swiftly escalated. “At that time an observing officer yelled out the words, “gun, gun, gun!” A struggle, which appeared to last only seconds ensued and gunshots could be heard,” reported the source.

The statement reads, “An empty holster can be seen on Mr Allan’s right hip and a handgun can be seen lying on the driver-side floorboard of the vehicle.” The five officers were placed on paid administrative leave following an investigation. “We don’t draw any final conclusions regarding the actions of the officers until the protocol investigation has been completed,” Farmington police concluded in their statement.
