Charlize Theron repeatedly mocks 'incredibly overweight' Steven Seagal because ‘he’s not very nice to women’
Charlize Theron has slammed Steven Seagal as she called him “incredibly overweight” and also questioned his martial arts skills. The 44-year-old actress made the statement while appearing on Howard Stern's radio show in the US to promote her forthcoming action movie ‘The Old Guard’. The movie is the adaptation of a comic book by the same name. The film, which will release on Netflix next month, also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthias Schoenaerts and KiKi Layne.
During the radio show, when Theron was asked how she makes herself ready for her action projects, she said: “At night I’ll go online to watch fighters or watch people fight and you always come across that odd Seagal video of him ‘fighting’ in Japan, but he really isn’t. He’s just incredibly overweight and pushing people. He’s overweight and can barely fight … look it up, it’s ridiculous. He’s shoving people by the face. It’s a whole setup.” The ‘Bombshell’ star also justified her statements as she stated, “I have no problem talking s**t about him because he’s not very nice to women so f**k you!”
According to reports, 68-year-old Seagal has been accused of sexual assault and sexual harassment by several actresses. The allegations against him date back to the early '90s, by actresses including Julianna Margulies, Regina Simons, Jenny McCarthy and Portia de Rossi. Most recently, in 2018, former Bond girl Rachel Grant accused Seagal of "pulling down her top and exposing himself to her during an audition." However, the actor-producer denied the allegation. “Our client denies having such contact with Ms Grant and further vehemently denies any alleged assault at all, in particular, the alleged assault occurring in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2002,” lawyers for Seagal said at the time.
Talking about action movies, Theron said that women appearing in action movies “don’t want to f**king fight like men”. “We want to fight like we would fight and figure out what this looks like. We want to fight smarter, we want to fight in a way that makes sense, and we want to do it in a way where we’re still part of emotional storytelling,” she added.
On SiriusXM’s ‘The Howard Stern Show’, Theron also discussed her personal life as she denied being “almost married” to Sean Penn. The ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ star said: “What? That’s not true. No. I did not ‘almost get married to Sean,’ that’s such bulls***.” Theron and ‘The Gunman’ star were together in 2014. The actress admitted that the two dated each other but said the relationship did not last long enough. “It was a relationship, for sure. We were definitely exclusive, but it was for barely a year. We never moved in. I was never going to marry him. It was nothing like that,” she said.
Earlier in a 2016 interview with Wall Street Journal denied that allegations that she ghosted Penn. At the time, Theron said: “There is a need to sensationalize things. When you leave a relationship there has to be some f--king crazy story or some crazy drama. And the f--king ghosting thing, like literally, I still don’t even know what it is. It’s just its own beast.”
