TVXQ's Changmin postpones wedding plans due to Covid-19, fans say he's waiting for ‘big sponsored ceremony’
Shim Chang-min, better known as Changmin, announced that he is going to postpone his wedding, which was scheduled to take place on September 5. According to Soompi.com, he has taken the decision citing safety concerns.
According to the report, talent agency SM Entertainment which manages TVXQ — the pop collective comprising Changmin and U-Know Yunho — confirmed the news and stated, as quoted by the report, “Due to concerns over the spread of Covid-19, Changmin has postponed his wedding, which was originally scheduled to take place on September 5. He is planning to decide on a new date following discussions with [his and his fiancée’s] family.”
In June this year, the artiste had announced that he is going to tie the knot with his girlfriend. He informed his fans through a letter, as stated in Soompi.com. In a long letter, Chingmin had shared, “As you are aware due to a news report from a while ago, there is a woman I am currently dating. We have had a good relationship with trust and faith in one another, and naturally I decided that I want to continue my life together with this person, so we made the decision to have our wedding in September around the time when the heat will cool down. Through this letter, I once again express gratitude to Yunho who supported my decision and was happy for me in addition to our agency staff who gave me sincere advice.”
That time SM Entertainment had also issued a statement saying, “Changmin will be getting married to his girlfriend on September 5. In consideration of the non-celebrity bride and both families, details of the wedding including the exact location and time will all be private, so we ask for the generous understanding of fans and reporters.”
Changmin is the latest inclusion in a list of celebrities who changed their nuptial plans due to Covid-19. This includes Kang Sora, who was going to hold her wedding on August 29 and opted for a small family gathering and Ryu Deok Hwan who had announced that he and his girlfriend would be postponing their October wedding until next year.
Fans soon reacted to this news on Twitter. One fan said, "In SK wedding ceremonies are allowed for a maximum of 50 ppl. I thought Changmin wanted a small ceremony, but it looks like he wants to do 'a big ceremony', maybe even sponsored. Never mind, but I hope his plans will not interfere with the activities of Yunho."

One concurred, "He could have just go on with the wedding plan in super private by reducing the number of guests but he decided to delay because of the situation around him. It takes a lot of consideration for him and his bride to be."
