The missing person cases where victims were found dead have recently taken a hit. MEAWW previously reported a similar case where on November 24, a reporter who had vanished following a donut run was discovered dead in Hingham's Bare Cove Park. On Tuesday, November 21, around 11.am, traffic reporter for WBZ NewsRadio Michael King, 53, left his house for a donut run. However, according to his girlfriend Lisa Farrell Corey, he went missing for a few days.
The last time anyone saw King was when he was supposed to go home before leaving for work, according to Fall River Reporter. When King failed to show up for work on Tuesday, November 22, police began their search for him. At around 4.30 pm that afternoon, Weymouth, Massachusetts, police issued a warning. On Thanksgiving Eve, a considerable police presence was present in Bare Cove Park to look for the missing King. Later, they came across King's body lying in wait inside the park. According to the office of the chief medical examiner, there was no indication of misconduct. Through her friend Patti Donahue on Facebook, King's girlfriend confirmed the reporter's passing. Condolence comments swamped the comment section.
In another instance MEAWW reported, Emily Sotelo, 19, who went missing on a weekend trip in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, was found deceased. On Wednesday, November 23, just after 11.am, the search and rescue team discovered her body on the northwest slope of Mount Lafayette in Franconia. On Sunday, November 20, early in the morning, the Westford resident was dropped off by her mother at Lafayette Place Campground in Franconia. She had a lot of hiking experience from the past but, in accordance with her family, had not done much during the winter months. She planned to trek Mount Lafayette, Mount Haystack, and Mount Flume.
According to officials, a helicopter from the New Hampshire Army National Guard helped with the rescue of Sotelo's body. Captain Michael Eastman of Fish and Game earlier stated: "It certainly can be done in a day. A hiker in good shape can probably do it in no time in summer conditions, but the conditions we had yesterday — high winds, temperatures, varied conditions — you have, in the higher elevations, snow up to your chest," Eastman threw in. Sotelo was reported to be 115 pounds and 5 feet, 3 inches tall to the authorities. Sotelo was last seen with exercise pants, low-cut hiking shoes, and a brown jacket, according to Hampshire Fish and Game officials.
