'Vampire Diaries' star Candice King expecting second child with Joe, here's a look at their relationship timeline
'The Vampire Diaries' actress Candice King has some good news to share with fans. In the latest episode of the podcast ‘Directionally Challenged’, on which she appeared with former co-star Kayla Ewell, Candice revealed that she’s expecting a second child with husband Joe King.
Talking about navigating pregnancy amid the lockdown due to the pandemic, the actress said, "I'm a little over five months, so it's been the entirety of the whole quarantine experience and everything that 2020 has brought us this year and it's been a journey, to say the least.” The couple seems excited to welcome their second child nearly four years after they had their first daughter Florence, who was born in January 2016.
Candice and Joe first met in February 2012 at DirecTV’s Celebrity Beach Bowl. While Candice is an actress and songwriter best known for her role as Caroline Forbes in The CW’s supernatural drama ‘The Vampire Diaries’, Joe is a singer, guitarist, backing vocalist and the founder of the Denver -based rock band ‘The Fray’.
After dating for over a year, Joe and Candice got engaged in May 2013. After a courtship of almost one-and-half years, the couple entered the next big phase in their relationship and tied the knot in October 2014 in New Orleans, Louisiana. They reportedly had French Quarter-themed nuptials, which was attended by many of her co-stars from the hit television series, including Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev, Kat Grham, Michael Trevino, Kayla Ewell and executive producer Julie Plec. The actress changed her surname from Acolla to King following the wedding.
Although Candice and Joe had their first child Florence two years later, Candice immediately became the stepmother for his two children from his previous marriage. Joe was only 19 when he married his former wife Julie. The musician has two daughters Elise and Ava from his first marriage.
The actress seemed quite thrilled about embracing motherhood once again. On the podcast, she spoke in detail about her experience of being pregnant for the second time. "I feel comfortable and confident enough to discuss it now. I'm someone who likes to keep the pregnancy to myself and obviously with my partner – my husband (Joe King) – and our immediate friends and family until I feel comfortable and confident that I'm in a good place in my pregnancy and that my baby's okay and I'm okay as best as we can be. I'm finally at that place now, which feels really good."
The pandemic has undoubtedly taken a toll on our mental health. Similarly, even Candice discussed as to how she’s feeling “great” physically while discussing the emotional rollercoaster she’s been on due to the ongoing health crisis.
"It's been kind of odd to share the experience in discussing it with friends and family because I can't really physically share the experience of hugging friends right now comfortably, or knowing when I'm going to see my family next – and I haven't seen them this entire pregnancy so far. And so it's all weighted on me emotionally,” she noted.
