LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cameron Diaz has reportedly not spoken to her co-star and longtime friend Jamie Foxx following the latter’s sudden hospitalization over a medical emergency in April, inside sources claimed. The insider also mentioned that the actress has “no clue” about the fate of their upcoming movie ‘Back In Action,’ which was being filmed when Foxx was rushed to the hospital.

“Cameron has not spoken to Jamie at all and does not know anything other than what she hears,” a close friend of the actress reportedly told the Daily Mail. Reports suggest that the actors were filming scenes together a day before Foxx’s hospitalization. While Foxx is currently recovering, Diaz has reportedly since wrapped shooting for her “comeback” project.

However, the insider claimed the actress’ comeback is currently in question as she may not make an immediate return to acting due to series of unfortunate events that took place since she decided to start working on the new project. “Cameron has not signed on for another film and is not currently taking any new scripts. Honestly, she is not sure what is going on with Back In Action and isn’t very proud of it, considering there was so much drama even before Jamie was hospitalized.”

‘Cameron feels a tremendous sense of guilt now’

Even before Foxx’s hospitalization, the production of ‘Back In Action’ was plagued with several behind-the-scenes issues. The problems allegedly caused Diaz and Foxx to engage in heated on-set arguments, sources claimed. The insider mentioned that Diaz is suffering from internal guilt as she and Foxx never “made amends” before his medical emergency and their alleged disagreements remained unresolved.

“Cameron feels a tremendous sense of guilt now about their quarrels since she has not been able to make amends,” the source claimed. While filming for ‘Back In Action’ has come to an end, sources are saying that there are “major setbacks in post production.” The fate of the project allegedly remains unknown as Foxx served as an executive producer on the film and producers reached stand-still in recent weeks due to the uncertainty of the actor’s health condition.

Back in March, Foxx had an “absolute meltdown” while filming for the movie in UK and ended up firing multiple people, including an executive producer, two directors and his own driver, the Daily Mail reported. Further difficulties ensued after production of the film was paused following the discovery of an unexploded WWII-era bomb on the film's set in London. In addition to “hating the drama and confrontation” on set, Diaz was also unimpressed about the 12-hour workdays that kept her away from her husband Benji Madden and their son Raddix, the insider alleged.

Jamie Foxx convinced Cameron Diaz to return to acting

Last year, several reports suggested that Foxx successfully convinced Diaz to return to acting after her retirement from Hollywood following an appearance on the 2014 movie-musical ‘Annie.’ Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about Diaz’s comeback in ‘Back In Action,’ Foxx said, “Cameron is such an incredible force and she has done so much in this business, We love her.”

“Getting her to come on board basically involved asking her, ‘Do you wanna have some fun? Just have some fun!’ And I think that's what brought her to it,” he added at the time. In 2021, Diaz revealed that she decided to step away from showbiz to “manage” different aspects of her life. “When you do something at a really high level for a long period of time, there are parts of your life that end up being handed off to other people. For me, I just really wanted to make my life manageable by me,” she shared at the time.

“My routine in a day is literally what I can manage to do by myself. I just went, ‘I can't really say who I am to myself.’ Which is a hard thing to face up to," Diaz mentioned. “I felt the need to make myself whole,” she added. Sources previously mentioned that Diaz was “anxious” but “excited” to work in ‘Back In Action.’

The news about Foxx’s heath condition was first shared by his daughter Corinne on April 12. “We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” she wrote on social media at the time. While no other details about Foxx’s specific health issues were revealed, his family was spotted numerous times at a medical facility in Chicago, which specializes in treatment for adults with “severe complex conditions,” including recovery from a stroke.
