The secret behind Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart's strong and private 20-year relationship
Calista Flockhart was recently seen landing at Los Angeles' Hawthorne Airport in one of her husband’s fancy private jets. The 57-year-old was seen getting down off the Citation Sovereign jet, which is reportedly the largest of Harrison Ford's whole collection, over the weekend with her three dogs. The actress was helped by a person as she made her way down to the airport but her actor husband, who is also a licensed pilot, was not seen anywhere.
This comes after Flockhart and Ford recently celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary. Though they have been together since 2002, they said “I do” to each other in June 2010 and are also co-parenting Flockhart’s adopted son, Liam. The couple reportedly spends their time between Los Angeles and their 800-acre ranch in Wyoming’s Jackson.

After being spotted over the weekend, the ‘Supergirl’ star was once again located on Monday, June 27, walking her dogs while donning a t-shirt, a pair of skinny jeans, sneakers, and a face mask. Flockhart, whose debut play was ‘Beside Herself’ in 1989, made a comeback recently as Martha in Edward Albee's ‘Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’.
She spoke about it with the Los Angeles Times in April and said: “Whenever I did a play, I was usually the ingénue and one of the youngest people in the cast. And now I'm definitely the oldest person in the cast. And I am not the ingénue.” She added: “And that's really fun and exciting. I could never play Martha without all the life experience. So it feels pretty wonderful. There's no editor and it's an actor's medium. You're on the stage, the director's gone and it's just very exciting to me.” Flockhart also reportedly said that she decided to do theater after her son, who is 21 now, began going to Amherst College in Massachusetts.
How the couple keeps going despite a 22-year age gap
Flockhart and Ford's love story must be one of the few Hollywood romances that have stood the test of time. Besides, they also rank among the few who have kept their personal life private. There are rarely any rumors or gossip about their relationship.
Though the two have never discussed the reason behind being private, a cursory glance at their relationship graph reveals it has always been like that. Flockhart and Ford even tied the knot in a private ceremony in New Mexico after Ford admitted in 2003, “I'm in love. Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life. I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn't surprised that I did.”
In 2002, Ford, who is 79 now, had said, "I was 60 when I fell in love with Calista. What surprised me most was that I was still capable of establishing a long-lasting relationship, making a serious commitment."
The ‘Ally McBeal’ actress had also once shared the secret of their happy relationship. She said in 2017, “Harrison and I laugh a lot, and humor is everything to me.” Despite being 22 years younger than him, Flockhart added, “The truth is, I sometimes feel very much older than Harrison. Sometimes, I even say, ‘Wow, I keep forgetting that he’s 22 years older than me.’ It doesn’t factor into our relationship at all. I like the way he looks first thing in the morning. It’s not handsome, it’s more cute. He looks like a little boy.”
