Caitlyn Jenner recalls fleeing 'frightening' Woolsey fires: 'Tornadoes 200ft in the air of flames coming at you'
Caitlyn Jenner has recounted the horrific ordeal when she had to flee her Malibu home after a "tornado of flames" engulfed it during the Woolsey wildfires last year.
Appearing on the BBC's Don't Tell Me The Score podcast, the 70-year-old reality star, rumored to be joining the lineup for 'I'm A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here!' for a £500,000 ($6,40,240) payday, said that among the 11,000 residents who were forced to vacate their homes in the wake of the Hill and Woolsey Fires - which ended up scorching 35,000 acres - were Caitlyn and her stepdaughters Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian.
The former Olympic star added that the approaching flames were a harrowing sight although her house ultimately managed to survive the deadly blaze. "We had fires come through here. I stayed about a minute before it hit as it was coming up that canyon so intensely. Tornadoes 200ft in the air of flames coming at you. It was pretty frightening. In the pool, there had to be close to 15 dead rats, 15 dead rabbits. Soot. Everything. The house had to be sanitized. It was a mess. A lot of things on the outside were messed up," she said.
Caitlyn shares the house with girlfriend Sophia Hutchins, 22. The damages to her house cost the former 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star an estimated £240,000 ($3,07,100).
After fire officials declared the blaze an "imminent threat" at the time and a mandatory evacuation order was issued, Caitlyn had taken to Instagram to reassure her fans that they had evacuated her home.
It is being speculated that Caitlyn will be flying to Australia later this month after a new season of 'I'm A Celebrity' officially announce their celebrity lineup. "She's such a huge name and a great get for producers," a source told Daily Mail. "ITV think she is one of their best-ever signings. It's a real bolt from the blue. They've asked her every year for a long time, but she finally felt the time was right."
