Caitlyn Jenner resorted to Instagram Stories to vent about a bad experience she had at the Beverly Hills Hotel, claiming she was denied lunch because her jeans were ripped. She went on the offensive on Monday, December 13, saying, "f*** your horrible service for not letting me have lunch with this tiny rip in my jeans. Shame on you. Disgusting. I have been a patron for decades. No longer."

She had allegedly attempted to eat at the hotel's fabled Polo Lounge, which is now a mix of old and new school as far as dress codes are concerned. For a long time, the Polo Lounge, despite its historical significance as a power dining spot, had fallen out of favor with celebs. But recently, it has seen a comeback as a dining option for young Hollywood. As a result, it is now a super popular lunch and dinner destination for the young, rich and famous.

According to the insider, workers at the exclusive Hollywood hangout did not enforce their 'no photographs' policy, and Jenner did manage to pose for selfies with admirers throughout her visit. However, when she decided to have lunch at the Polo Lounge, her ripped jeans did not pass the establishment's dress code.

"Please review our dress code guideline, which is published on our website and sent to every guest when they book a reservation with us," a hotel spokeswoman told TMZ when asked about the incident. Caitlyn made it clear in her post that though she has been going there for years, she will no longer be a patron after the incident. She expressed her dissatisfaction by tagging the hotel's parent corporation, The Dorchester Collection.

The dress code reads, “At the Polo Lounge, we encourage you to dress for the occasion, so we ask that you refrain from wearing casual hats, ripped denim, crop tops, nightwear, swimwear and men’s sleeveless shirts. After 4 pm, we do not permit shorts, flip-flops (including Birkenstocks) or sportswear (including tracksuits). Children under 10 are exempt.” However, interestingly, nowhere does it state that the Polo Lounge's dress code is mandatory. Jenner's ripped jeans were hardly scandalous or indecent and should not have ordinarily provoked such censure, especially since the hotel seemed to have relaxed certain rules for her like the "no photograhy" one. Jenner used Instagram Stories to emphasise parts of the TMZ piece, including the paragraph about the dining spot's dress code that utilises the verb "encourage" and the narrative about taking photographs with fans.

According to a source close to Jenner, the event might be just another chapter in Dorchester's long history of problems with the LGBTQ community. Jenner has been largely absent from the spotlight in recent months. The last time she was in the spotlight was her views on gay marriage on the Ellen DeGeneres' show. In 2015, Jenner appeared on Ellen and said, “I’m a traditionalist. … I kinda like tradition and it’s always been a man and a woman.” She also added that her position on same-sex marriage had "evolved" since transitioning. “As time has gone on, I think a lot of people on this issue have really changed their thinking here to, ‘I don’t ever want to stand in front of anybody’s happiness.’ That’s not my job, okay? If that word — ‘marriage’ — is really, really that important to you, I can go with it.” On 'Big Brother VIP Australia,' she discussed the conflict with Ellen. "Then she turns to me and says, 'Well, it seems like you're not up for it.' She went on Howard Stern's programme in New York, his radio show, the following week and said I was against gay marriage and completely burned my a**," she recounted. The reality star later in an interview with Diane Sawyer told her, “I am 100 percent behind gay marriage. Let’s clear that up right now.” Jenner, however, stood by the statements she made at the Ellen show about the same-sex marriage issue was an evolving process at the time of her initial comments, but added, “get it straight, I am all for it.” While Caitlyn later agreed she might have handled things better, the talk show host has never any such attempts at reconciliation. This was why, Caitlyn Jenner pondered about requesting Kris Jenner to stop any of their kids from appearing on 'The Ellen Show.' She eventually opted against requesting such a big favor.
