Sometime last year, Caitlyn Jenner revealed that she auditioned for the role of Superman, but unfortunately lost out the part in the 1978 film to heartthrob Christopher Reeve.

In an upcoming episode of 'Through The Keyhole', the reality star, who is also a panelist on the show, explained precisely what the audition entailed.

"Right after the [1976 Olympic] Games, I was asked to go to Rome and do a screen test for the original Superman [movie]," she said to Keith Lemon and her fellow panelists Craig Revel Horwood and Johnny Vegas in an exclusive clip from the show.

"I got the whole cape on, went back there, spent a week..." she continued. "I went to the ice crystal, had fights with Lex Luthor, did all that stuff. And then they found Christopher Reeve and he wound up doing it!"

Fans of the movie would know that the 'ice crystal' Caitlyn speaks of is The Fortress Of Solitude, also known as the occasional headquarters of Superman, found amid a frozen tundra, hidden away from civilization. Caitlyn's admission about the prestigious role came up in her explosive Variety interview from last year.

At the time of the auditions, she was still Bruce Jenner, the former Olympic athlete, and Caitlyn revealed more about the scenario in that moment. "It was just too much for me. I would have gone down as the most macho guy in the world, and that’s not me."

The transgender star continued, "It’s not even close to being me. That’s why I want to play that bad-a** bitch. I can play that girl. They got the wicked queen or the wicked lady. Just do the makeup and the outfit. And I got the deep voice."

The 1976 Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete's appearance on 'Through The Keyhole' sees her, Craig and Johnny, where all three of them attempt to guess which celebrity homes host Keith will be nosing his way around this week.

What's even more exciting is that through the show, viewers can briefly see a glimpse of Caitlyn's own home in the episode. Keith showed an aerial view of both Caitlyn and Craig's properties - remarking that Craig's looked like a shopping centre.

Caitlyn, who has a home in Los Angeles, joked: "See - no neighbors."

"I'd worry about those steps," Johnny quipped, referring to the many layers of steps around the house. "Like in the winter when they get frozen." Keith then chimed in: "We don't have a picture of your house Johnny! What's it like?" To which, Caitlyn fired back to Johnny: "Do you have a house?"
