Caitlyn Jenner riles viewers of 'I'm a Celebrity' with her comments about 'Americans always bailing out the Brits'
Caitlyn Jenner may have begun her stint on 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!' on a winning note by displaying kindness toward her competitors, but she has yet to learn how to not utter the politically wrong statements.
The 70-year-old former Olympic athlete made a gaffe on Sunday's episode immediately after she found out that she had been chosen by the public to take on the first Bushtucker Trial.
"That's right, send in the American to feed the Brits," she joked, adding in the same vein, "We've been bailing you guys out for years."
During the filming of the live show, hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly chose not to react to Caitlyn's controversial statements and instead, tried to drown out the reality star by continuing with the episode.
However, Kris Jenner's former husband's words did not go unnoticed by the fans of the show, who took to social media to voice their fury. One of them even said that they would make sure that they will now vote for her to do every single trial after Caitlyn spoke the ill-advised words on a British show.
"Caitlyn Jenner just said after being chosen for bushtucker trial that the Americans feed the Brits and that 'we've been helping you out for years'...wtf....guess who I want to do every trial??!!" one viewer wrote.
Another furious fan said: "Snide comment from @Caitlyn_Jenner then about Americans saving the Brits. Enjoy eating kangaroo d***, cos you're being voted every time! #ohkurrr #ImACelebrityGetMeOutOfHere."
"Did anyone else hear Caitlin say “yeah yeah chuck the American in, we’ve been helping you for years.” Referencing to the war," a third stated.
Regardless of the backlash, it was not like Caitlyn will be doing the trial alone. British TV presenter Kate Garraway, 52, was also selected to do the task along with her.
