BTS's Jungkook breaks record with 'Never Not' cover as fans get him over 1 million views in 10 minutes
Superstar K-pop group BTS keep finding new ways to break records and ensure their fans are entertained during the ongoing coronavirus lockdown. This time, it's one of their talented all-star vocal performers, Jungkook, who is taking all the plaudits on social media for his vocal displays.
A few hours earlier on the night of May 2, Jungkook (aka Kookie to his fans) uploaded a special video on BTS' official Twitter account that showed him singing a gorgeous version of Lauv’s 'Never Not'.
This is not the first time BTS and the popular American solo artiste Lauv have crossed paths.
They had officially collaborated last year on a special remix of their 'Map of the Soul: Persona' track 'Make It Right' and BTS members Jungkook and Jimin have guest-starred on the verse of another new song by Lauv called 'Who', which was released last month.
This time, Jungkook kept it simple as he sat cross-legged on a bed in his favorite oversized gray shirt and sang a heartfelt rendition of 'Never Not' in English. It was a wonderfully entertaining performance that had fans hanging on to his every word.
Jungkook added to the amusement factor by comically messing the words up near the end and then decided to abort his attempt after a minute-and-a-half of lovely and sincere vocals. You can check out his cover of Lauv's 'Never Not' by clicking here.
It's also worth noting that his bandmate V, aka Kim Tae-hyung, had also posted a cover of this song previously in a live stream broadcast. If you'd like to compare their performances, you can click here to see both their performances back to back!
K-pop fans enthusiastically applauded Jungkook's efforts (and his tattoos), and even broke some social media records in the process with their passionate responses.
Thanks to the BTS ARMY fanbase, Jungkook actually managed to break the all-time record for the fastest Twitter video to reach one million views. It barely took him 10 minutes to surpass the one million views mark and the video already has over 10.5 million views now after just six hours.
Another record was broken, with Jungkook's recent video earning him the distinction of being the first and only BTS member to now have a tweet with over 400K comments.
Fans were ecstatic on helping Jungkook break the record and were extremely grateful for his heartfelt cover: "I've watched this so many times Jungkook. I’ve lost count. Thank you for always being so kind with us, sharing your talent."
Other loyal followers posted, "I hope you know how many people you made happy today Jungkookie. You made so many people's day, even week better, and helped those who were feeling low just with your voice. We all really missed you. Love you and cherish you endlessly."
Another diehard fan concurred, saying "Omg kookie... no matter what song are you going to sing or what lyrics are you going to compose. We'll always be proud of you."
