BTS' 'Dynamite' DOMINATES Blackpink's 'Pink Venom' on charts, fans say, 'history repeating itself'
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: BTS may be on a hiatus but ARMYs sure are not, as 'Dynamite', BTS' most successful song in years reclaims its top spot on charts on its second anniversary of release. Back in 2020, BTS released their first ever English single on August 21, 'Dynamite' which recorded 100 million views on YouTube within the first 24 hours of its release. Soon after the release from BTS, Blackpink dropped 'Ice Cream' featuring American pop singer, Selena Gomez which was an international favorite as well. However, it was noticed that BTS' 'Dynamite' dominated charts against Blackpink's 'Ice Cream' and now, history is repeating itself with the girl group's latest single, 'Pink Venom'.
Blackpink released 'Pink Venom' on August 19 and the song is presently the girl group's best release to date. After being on a hiatus for 22 months, Blackpink members returned with 'Pink Venom' which recorded 86+ million YouTube views, ranked Number 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in 69 countries, and became the first Korean song to debut at Number 1 in Spotify's Global chart. Despite all the success for Blackpink's new single, it has now been reported that BTS' 2020 hit single 'Dynamite' has reappeared atop the iTunes Worldwide Songs chart on its second anniversary and defeated Blackpink's new single within days.
