PULLMAN, WASHINGTON: Bryan Kohberger, the suspect arrested for the murders of four university of Idaho students, was reportedly fired from his position as a teaching assistant at Washington State University due to his 'sexist attitude' that he refused to mend despite several warnings.

The 28-year-old PhD student was arrested on December 30 for the murders of Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, who were stabbed to death on November 13, 2022, in their off-campus rental home on King Road in Moscow. Kohberger, who is currently housed at Latah County Jail, has been charged with four counts of murder and one count of felony burglary. He appeared in an Idaho court on January 12, and a preliminary hearing was set for June 26.

At the time of the murders, Kohberger was a PhD criminology student and teaching assistant at Washington State University's Pullman campus, which is only about a 15-minute drive from Moscow, Idaho. But now, it has been revealed that he was allegedly fired from his position days before his arrest. As per a report by News Nation, Kohberger was officially terminated on December 19 because of his "problematic behavior. According to the report which cited his termination letter, he was warned time and again to cut off his "bad behavior" and even an investigation was conducted by the University.

In his termination letter, the officials allegedly noted that Kohberger had a "sexist attitude" toward the females that he interacted with at the school. As a teaching assistant, he even graded female students differently than he graded men. The investigation was conducted against Kohberger after September 23 when he indulged in a verbal spat with a professor. He apparently received a number of emails from University officials. Some reports have also claimed that he was withdrawn from the data system on December 22, just three days after his termination. However, Washington State University is yet to comment on the matter.

Reflecting on the reports, Dr Scott Bonn, an author, and serial killer expert suggested that he believes Kohberger’s behavior was extremely “outrageous and had become a problem for the department” and that’s why the university fired him in the first semester of his PhD program. He also weighed in on what he believe could have led Kohberger to allegedly kill the four University of Idaho students. “He (Kohberger) reached a tipping point where he simply couldn’t take it anymore, and he had to act out on his fantasy of killing,” Dr Bonn told News Nation.
