SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA: The Moscow Police have the first significant break in the quadruple Idaho murder case, shocking the state. Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were found stabbed to death on November 13. Six weeks later, an arrest was made and his name is Bryan Christopher Kohberger. The suspect was found in Scranton, Pennsylvania, which is over 2,500 miles away from the crime scene as the students were murdered in a house located on King Road, Moscow.
Pennsylvania State Police brought in the 28-year-old suspect after the SWAT team picked him up in the early hours of Friday morning, December 30. Kohberger was found at a home in Albrightsville, a small town in the heart of the Poconos Mountains. As no crucial information was made public before the arrest, police are now saying that the DNA evidence linked Kohberger to the crime. Kohberger was a PhD student in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Washington State University in Pullman which is a 15 minutes drive from Moscow, Idaho. An extradition hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, January 3.

Bryan Kohberger arrested for murders of four Idaho students
The police also explained that they retrieved a white Hyundai Elantra from outside Kohberger's home during the search which was the same make and model that they had been looking for the past two weeks. Law enforcement emphasized on several occasions that the owner of this particular vehicle could have potential information on this gruesome crime. Kohberger’s DNA was also matched to genetic material recovered at the off-campus house. Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said in a news conference Friday afternoon explained that Kohberger was charged with four counts of murder in the first degree as well as felony burglary.
CNN has reported that an FBI surveillance team from the Philadelphia field office was tracking Kohberger for four days in the area he was arrested. The Moscow Police Department, the Idaho State Police homicide bureau, and the FBI collaborated to gather sufficient evidence to develop sufficient probable cause to get the arrest warrant. Once that was issued, the Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI made the arrest. Kohberger is currently held without bail and will be represented by a public defender while in Pennsylvania. Public records indicate that he has no priors. However, the police have not revealed the 'know-how' details as of yet.
