MONROE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA: The Idaho murder suspect Bryan Christopher Kohberger, who has been arrested, had a history of an eating disorder that worried his family, according to a relative of the suspect.
“It was above and beyond being vegan,” said the suspected murderer Kohberger's aunt who was previously married into his family. She described his dietary restrictions as "very, very weird" while she talked to the New York Post on December 30, after his arrest. However, his former aunt does not wish to reveal her identity.

In connection to the November 13 brutal killings of Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, at their off-campus rental home in Moscow, Idaho, the 28-year-old was taken into custody in a raid in Scranton, Pennsylvania, early morning on Friday.
“His aunt and uncle had to buy new pots and pans because he would not eat anything that had ever had meat cooked in them. He seemed very OCD [obsessive-compulsive disorder],” his former aunt explained, reports the New York Post. OCD is a long-lasting condition that is quite common and it makes a person follow a repeated pattern of fears and thoughts resulting in a consistent attempt to behave the same way over and over again and also to do the same tasks on a repeated basis.
According to the news outlet, Kohberger, who was arrested on Friday was pursuing a PhD in criminology at Washington University, Pullman which is around nine miles (15 km) west of Moscow, Idaho, where the slain students resided. Immediately after his arrest was recorded, his student profile page was removed by the university. In May 2022, the suspect also graduated from Pennsylvania’s DeSales University with a master of arts in criminal justice. His DeSales email was connected to a cryptic Reddit post about a survey he planned to conduct on the psychological and emotional conditions and factors of possible crime committers.
Following the news of Kohberger's arrest, the Idaho murder victim Kaylee Goncalves' grandmother Cheryl Goncalves said “Of course we’re relieved” and pointed out that “this is what we wanted. We wanted him caught and now we want justice," she told the New York Post.
