Biden wasn't Bruce Springsteen's top pick to beat Trump, Internet says he 'wasn't anyone's first choice'

Rock music legend Bruce Springsteen admitted in an interview on Sunday that Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Bident was not his first choice when it came to picking a candidate to beat President Donald Trump in upcoming elections.

In a wide-ranging Rolling Stone interview, when the rockstar was asked about his favorite politicians among the liberals, he said, “I like Bernie Sanders a lot. I don’t know if he was my main choice, my first choice. I like Elizabeth Warren, I like Bernie." However, he did mention that he had thrown his support behind Biden for this election. "But look, if we want to have the America that we envision, it’s going to need some pretty serious systemic changes moving leftward... The power of the American idea has been abandoned It’s a terrible shame, and we need somebody who can bring that to life again.… I think if we get Joe Biden, it’s gonna go a long way towards helping us regain our status around the world. The country as the shining light of democracy has been trashed by the administration. We abandoned friends, we befriended dictators, we denied climate science,” said the Grammy-winner.

He also had quite a bit to say about white privilege. “White supremacy and white privilege have gone much deeper than I thought they did,” Springsteen said on the subject of the Black Lives Matter movement. “I think my feeling previously to the past three or four years was that racism and white supremacy and white privilege were veins in our extremities, rather than an aorta that cuts through the very heart of the nation, which I feel it is now. So that was eye-opening, whether I was previously stupidly innocent to that or not."

He added that the last few years had been a “very disturbing time" for him and that “overall, as somebody who was a born populist, I’ve got a little less faith in my neighbors than I had four years ago.”

People on social media accused Springsteen of making money and building his career based on the same white privilege that he made the remarks on. Many of them also made it clear that the musician was not entitled to giving an opinion since he was not a political expert.

"What an ignorant, pompous bastard! He sang about the factories closing - but he didn't do a thing about it nor did he support someone would," one said, while another wrote, "Well now, that settles it! Bruce is, after all, a political genius. And who the f**k is HE to be talking about white privilege? How about this, Bruce - GIVE UP ALL YOUR WEALTH, EVERY PENNY. Then, let’s talk about white privilege." A third wrote, "THIS PR*CK MADE HIS $ SINGING BORN IN THE USA!! & NEVER MENTIONED RACISM OR SUPREMACY. F*CK THAT COWARD!" A fourth opined, "no one is interested in your politics."

A fifth remarked, "Says the millionaire White guy that everybody has had to call 'Boss' for 45 years..." and a sixth commented, "Bruce Springsteen Attacks America. Though he doesn't say if he'll give up his wealth which, necessarily, must have been obtained as a result of the white privilege and white supremacy that he tells us "cuts through the heart of America."

There were also those who agreed with Springsteen but said that Democrats had to vote for Biden if they wanted to dethrone Trump. "Someone should tell Bruce Springsteen That Biden Wasn't anyone’s First Choice," one wrote, while another said, "I admire him for admitting that. Every candidate had a following, they were all good people and all a major improvement on the unfit person currently in the role." A third commented, "Sooo sorry but you’re stuck with him!"
