Bling Bishop Lamor Miller-Whitehead wants clergy to have gun permits, Mayor Eric Adams responds with ONE word
A Brooklyn pastor, Lamor Miller-Whitehead, known for wearing Gucci, Balenciaga, Fendi, Prada and other high-end designers, got shut down by his longtime friend Mayor Eric Adams after he urged legislators to introduce a law that would allow pastors and other members of clergy to arm themselves. To which, Adams offered a one-word reply, “No.”
The bishop's request came after he was robbed of an estimated $1 million worth of jewelry while in the middle of his live-streamed service at the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Canarsie on July 24. As per NY Post, three masked crooks were caught on video stealing the jewelry. Part of the reported incident was captured on video from inside the church.

NYC mayor Eric Adams cries racism, blames WHITE journalists for targeting him
A portion of the livestream was obtained by CNN affiliate WCBS before it was removed and shows at least one suspect holding a gun on the pastor and interrupting his sermon. To which the pastor said, "All right, all right, all right," as he raised his hands and lowered himself to the floor.
Whitehead said there were gunmen with firearms raised to deacons at the door as well. This incident prompted him to speak on how he’d now like to be armed. "They need to pass a law expeditiously that pastors of houses of worship — anyone on the ecclesiastical staff — need to be able to have permits for firearms. If the teachers can have it, we should be able to have it," he said, as per Daily News. He further added, "No matter if we have a record, it should be exempt. So we should be able to bear arms as the Constitution says."
As per NY Post, responding to this, Adams quickly shut down the gun request with “no” when a reporter asked if it was a good idea that clergy members should be able to obtain gun permits regardless of their criminal histories.
Lawsuit against Whitehead
As per the reports, Whitehead has an alleged history of grifting and served time in prison for identity theft and grand larceny. Not just that, he is also the target of a lawsuit accusing him of cheating a parishioner and getting $90,000 out of her life savings in 2020. In another case against him, developers, who sold him his $1.6 million house in New Jersey, had won a court judgment against Whitehead last year for more than $335,000 that still has not been paid.
In a press conference on Friday, July 29, the pastor criticized the media for digging into his criminal and financial history in the wake of the robbery.
Looking for "empathy", Whitehead said at his press conference outside Leaders of Tomorrow International Church, "My wife has not stopped crying. My daughter has not stopped crying yet. My members have not stopped crying yet. Nobody’s empathizing with my church!” The area was being patrolled by five members of the NYPD at the time.
