EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY: The Internet has not taken kindly to a picture of Brittany Mahomes from the NFL game on October 1 where she was spotted along with Taylor Swift in the frame looking a bit morose and tuned out.

Netizens were quick to comment that this was because of the 'Taylor Swift Effect', where everyone else gets eclipsed by the star's shadow and does not get any attention.

Brittany was present at the Metlife Stadium to support her husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, as his team took on the New York Jets.

Taylor was also in attendance in support of her rumored boyfriend, Travis Kelce, accompanied by a host of celebrities.

Her celeb cheer squad included Sophie Turner, Sabrina Carpenter, Blake Lively with her husband Ryan Reynolds, his mock frenemy Hugh Jackman, Antoni Porowski from Queer Eye, and her brother Austin Swift.

Brittany Mahomes, former soccer player and founding co-owner of the Kansas City Current, had met Taylor Swift on September 30 for dinner and a fun-filled girls' night out.

The dinner at Italian restaurant Emilio’s Ballato was also attended by Sophie Turner, Blake Lively, Blake's older sister Robyn, plus more of Swift's girlfriends.

According to a source, “They dined in a private room. Everyone had a blast. They all got along and were just laughing all night over drinks and delicious food," reports People.

Fans were waiting for their public interactions at the stadium on the day of the Chiefs vs Jets match.

They were seen sitting together in a suite high above MetLife Stadium.

Viral photo turns Brittany Mahomes into meme

A viral photograph, however, turned Brittany into a meme, leading to humorous speculations about her reaction to Swift's presence at the game.

In the image, the pop star is visibly engaged and cheering during the game, while Brittany appears to have a less enthusiastic expression and is holding onto her food.

Netizens have joked that Brittany might be feeling overshadowed at Chiefs games recently.

One user tweeted, "I can’t even cause why is Brittany Mahomes at the bottom of this picture looking at her piece of chicken with seemingly ranch like that 😭"

"She's sad she isn't getting the attention," said another user in reply.

A number of memes have sprung from the image and internet trolls had a field day, but some people have also shown heart and supported Brittany, who was clicked in a less than flattering moment.

They ranged from advising her to stay sharp as photogs would be taking snaps with "Tay-Tay" in the VIP box to asking people to leave her alone as she was eating a "mozzy stick"  and enjoying the game in her own way.
