Sons' desire for Hawaii
This photo resurfaced following recent reports that Sean, 17, and Jayden, 16, expressed their desire to permanently reside in Hawaii with their father. According to TMZ, Federline, the former backup dancer, swiftly communicated his intentions through his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, inquiring about Britney's openness to the boys' relocation.
Insiders revealed that Federline and his legal team requested a response from Britney before the end of the week. Should Britney object to the move, Kaplan would reportedly seek permission from a judge. Given that the boys wish to leave Los Angeles and haven't seen their mother for over a year, it is likely that the judge would rule in Federline's favor.
TMZ also reported that Victoria Prince, the stepmother to the teenagers, received a job offer at a university in Hawaii, while Federline himself had DJ opportunities in the state. The family has been considering this move for some time and plans to make the transition in July after Sean's high school graduation. On the other hand, Jayden would continue his studies remotely.
Britney's stance
Britney's attorney, Mathew Rosengart, recently confirmed that she would not interfere with Federline's decision to move with their sons. Rosengart shared that there was no anticipation of a dispute when initially approached about the relocation in April, and he emphasized the importance of privacy and dignity for all parties involved, especially the children.
Jayden James opens up
In a previous interview with The Daily Mail, Jayden James, 15, shed light on why he and his brother, Sean Preston, 16, opted not to attend their mother's wedding to Sam Asghari. "At the time it just wasn't a good time to go. I'm not saying that I'm not happy for her," Jayden explained. He expressed his happiness for his mother but highlighted that her decision to exclude the whole family from the wedding would have complicated matters if only he and Preston had attended.
It's worth noting that Britney Spears, 40, continues to be estranged from certain members of her family, including her parents Jamie and Lynne Spears, and siblings Jamie Lynn and Bryan. In the interview, Jayden discussed the strained relationship between his mother and her family, particularly her father. He acknowledged his grandfather's initial support for Britney's dreams but also suggested that the conservatorship might have gone on for too long. Jayden believed that his mother was overworked and should have taken a break to relax. Contrary to Britney's claims, he did not perceive the extended Spears family as manipulative, stating, "They are not bad people. They know what we are going through now. They want our future to be what we want it to be."
Britney's response
Shortly after the interview was published, Britney responded on her Instagram account, sending her son "all the love in the world to you every day for the rest of my life!!!!" She expressed deep sadness knowing that Jayden believed she had fallen short of his expectations as a mother and expressed the hope of meeting face-to-face one day to discuss their feelings openly.
Britney shared her pride in her sons' musical talents and acknowledged their lack of understanding regarding her struggles with mental health and the conservatorship. "Keep playing your gift on the piano … you and your brother both are brilliant and I'm so proud to call you both mine," she said, adding that if her sons could not empathize with what she endured under the conservatorship, then she considered herself a failure as a mother.
On the eve of Britney's wedding to Sam Asghari on June 10, Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline's long-time attorney, confirmed that the boys would not be present at the wedding. "They're happy for their mom and they are hopeful that Sam and Britney are starting a great future together," he said, as quoted by People. "It's their night and they didn't want to take away from them."
