Britney Spears dances to 'genius' ex Justin Timberlake's song, reminds fans of the 'world's biggest breakup'
Back in the day, Britney Spears used to be the reigning queen of pop music. From hits like '...Baby One More Time' and 'Lucky', the bubble gum-styled pop of Britney Spears was ubiquitous on radio and TV back in the 2000s. So too, was her highly publicized relationship with Justin Timberlake, the pop prince of the super popular boy band NSYNC.
The famous singing duo was inseparable and one of the biggest celebrity power couples in pop music ever. But the pair, a Mickey Mouse Club alumni, eventually broke up in 2002 after dating for three years and quickly moved on from each other by having a string of infamous romantic relationships in public eye. Timberlake's 2002 hit 'Cry Me a River' had even led to speculation that she allegedly cheated on him with choreographer Wade Robson.
The 38-year-old Britney is currently dating Sam Asghari, a 26-year old fitness trainer, while the 39-year-old Timberlake is now happily married to actress Jessica Biel, one year his junior. The two share five-year-old son Silas Randall.
So it's a genuine '...Baby One More Time' moment when Spears decided to shout-out to her famous ex-boyfriend in a recent video that she posted on social media. On the night of April 15, the Spears posted a video on Instagram where she danced, twirled and stuck her tongue out to Timberlake's song 'Filthy' and called him a musical "genius."
The video showed Britney dancing on the deck of her five-bedroom mansion in Thousand Oaks while showing off her toned body in an off-the-shoulder floral crop-top, black lace choker, and white shorts.
The caption on the short video clip read "This is my version of Snapchat or TikTok or whatever the cool thing you're supposed to do these days đ đ đ đ!!!!! As you can see Iâm not really dancing folks... Iâm just very bored đ. PS - I know we had one of the world's biggest breakups 20 years ago... but hey the man is a genius !!!! Great song JT âš !!!! Pssss if you KNOW WHAT'S GOOD đ !!!!!!"
It seems like Spears still has a soft spot for her former flame and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has prompted this callback to more sentimental, nostalgic times. But her fans were loving the pop diva's display of affection and were posting all kinds of thrilled messages. "I love it! Oh my godney! So perfect.đ Love you!!" said one fan, while another follower said "This is so adorbs."
Admirers were also impressed by her dance skills, saying "Britney's still got the moves !!!!" Other Britney fans were tagging Timberlake and nudging him to reply to her, saying "@justintimberlake the queen is talking to you, say something." Timberlake noticed the shoutout and responded with a series of emojis, a crying with laughter face and three raising hands.
