The Mysterious Case of Britney Spears: Confused fans say things getting 'creepier' after singer's latest posts
The #FreeBritney movement, which seeks to remove pop star Britney Spears from under her father Jamie Spears's conservatorship, has been gaining steam ever since news about the same first broke. What caught the attention of fans the very first time around were the strange Instagram posts on Britney's official handle that showed her looking directly at the camera standing in inconspicuous locations wearing similar style crop-tops over and over again.
Now, in a series of new Instagram posts that fans have been calling 'creepy', the 'Toxic' singer is once again seen wearing her same old tops standing in front of a white-wall background. Then, just a few moments later, another post of the same variety was uploaded only to be followed by one more post with the superstar singer standing in the same pose.
In the first of these posts, which consists of three pictures, the singer is wearing a yellow crop-top with polka dots. The caption reads, "Before I move on to more of 'Just a Touch of Rose'….. I want to throw back to some of my favorite moments from this summer!!!!! These are from when I wore my favorite color yellow for my 'You Should See Me In A Crown' video!!!!"
Just a few moments later, the pop-star posted once again. This time she's seen in a white and a sky-blue crop-top in the same pose. The caption reads, "Remember when I said I was rooting for the world?!?! More shots from that set up!!!!! P.S. A couple more videos and photos from this summer are coming before I move on!!!!"
Then, in a third post just a hour later, the singer was back in her yellow crop-top with three rose emojis as the caption.
Fans, once again, noticed the strangeness of these posts and took to the comments section to point out how out of place the posts are. One fan commented, "At this point, the words 'yellow' and 'rose' trigger me every time," while another, in all caps, wrote, "GUY THE YELLOW TOP AGAIN." A Britney fan, pointing out that the singer's favorite color in the caption is inaccurate, said, "That is not true...Britney in all her interviews said that her favorite color is baby blue...obviously this is not her writing these posts!!!"
Fans also pointed at what seemed to be a bandage on her wrist and said, "GUYS WHAT'S WRONG ON HER ARM?" while another worriedly asked, "What happened to your wrist? Are you okay? Do you need 911?" Some were quick to come up with conspiracy theories involving the color yellow and asked other fans of the singer to Google terms 'The Yellow Wallpaper', 'the Rose Project', and the lyrics to Billie Eilish's 'You Should See Me in a Crown'.
Comments on the other two posts also reflected similar sentiments by her fans as one wrote, "She obviously isn't running her account. This is just getting creepier and creepier," while another said "what in the floral peasant crop-top is going onnnnn." A different user said, "Strangest celebrity Instagram account I've ever seen," while another concerned fan commented, "I'm so confused. None of this makes sense. I just hope she's okay."
Britney has earlier this month explained why she's wearing the same top over and over again, but in vain as the fans don't believe it's the pop princess who's posting from her account. Looking at the fan’s reactions, it is evident that the #FreeBritney movement is not stopping anytime soon.
