A biracial father from North Carolina has gone viral on social media for his speech against critical race theory at a school board meeting. Brian Echevarria, a father of three, argued that CRT was a 'big fat lie' and a 'discrimination revolution.' Echevarria is also running for the North Carolina General Assembly as a Republican.

In his speech, Echevarria slammed critical race theory as a “discrimination revolution”. Addressing the Cabarrus County School Board hearing on February 14, he said, "I’m biracial, I’m bilingual, I’m multicultural. The fact is, in America, in North Carolina, I can do anything I want and I teach that to my children. And the person who tells my pecan-color kids that they’re oppressed, based on the color of their skin, would be absolutely wrong and absolutely at war with me."

Echevarria said that in the wake of debates over mask mandates and CRT, parents have learned that they can drive policy change in local school boards. “The community, I think we recognize, now the political juice has been sucked out of the mask distraction, that we have to move forward,” he said. “What the masks showed us is the parents, the most powerful group in the country, [are] taking back the wheel.”

Last week, backlash from parents prompted Cabarrus County School Board to make masks optional for students. The board last year approved a resolution to ensure there is no discrimination in the district amid the controversy around critical race theory. “CRT, all of that, the parents don’t want it. It’s a big fat lie,” Echevarria said. “If you believe in CRT … it means you look at your black neighbor and say they’re oppressed and you look at your white neighbor and say they’re evil — regardless of the experience you’ve had with them. “We know that’s not true because we believe the lives we live.”

Echevarria has earned quite a lot of appreciation on social media for his speech. "This is Brian Echevarria and he is running for District 73 NC House of Representatives. If I lived there he would have my vote hands down," one Twitter user wrote. "Based on this alone, District 73 in NC needs to put this man in office. Way to go, Brian Echevarria!!" wrote another.

"Brian Echevarria did an excellent job with his speech. Got all of his points in. I hope he wins his general assembly seat. I’m so inspired by people who are running for school boards and taking them back from the leftist board members," one user commented, while another wrote, "I would vote for this Brian Echevarria if I lived in his district in NC, and also if he ran for ANY other office nationwide." One user said, "His name is Brian Echevarria and he's a real man, a caring parent, and a human being tethered to reality. There are millions and millions of Americans just like him. A minority of powerful nutters is pushing madness on children and young adults. Push back."
