Brad Pitt praises Kanye West's 'really special' Sunday services: 'Pure celebration of life and people'
Brad Pitt is all praises for Kanye West's devotional Sunday Service sessions.
The 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' actor appeared at one of West's weekly spiritual gatherings in Watts, California, for the second time earlier this month, and told Entertainment Tonight the Sunday Service experience was "really special" as he promoted his upcoming film 'Ad Astra'.
“I think he was doing something really special there,” the 55-year-old star told ET on Monday. “It’s a pure celebration of life and people. It’s really delightful. It really is.”
Pitt opened up about his spiritual and religious journey for the October cover story of GQ magazine. Speaking of the evolution of his beliefs, he revealed he had been looking for something that "felt right" for the longest time. “Oh man, I’ve gone through everything,” Pitt said. “Like, I cling to religion. I grew up with Christianity. Always questioned it, but it worked at times.”
“And then when I got on my own, I completely left it and I called myself agnostic," he continued. "Tried a few spiritual things but didn’t feel right.”
Pitt also spoke of the more "rebellious" phase of his roller-coaster life, when he chose to shun religion altogether. “Then I called myself an atheist for a while, just kind of being rebellious,” the Fight Club star admitted. “I wasn’t really. But I kinda labeled myself that for a while. It felt punk rock enough."
Fortunately, Pitt eventually found something he believed in. “I found myself coming back around to just belief in — I hate to use the word spirituality, but just believe in that we’re all connected,” he said.
Speaking to People, a source claimed West has a lot of respect for Pitt and that he was glad to share his weekly service experience with the actor.
“Kanye and Brad have been friendly for a while. There’s definitely a common respect between the two of them,” the source said. “Kanye has always been a big fan of Brad.”
“Kanye was so happy that Brad came,” the insider added. “He has wanted to share that with Brad.”
'Ad Astra' premieres September 20, while West's upcoming studio album 'Jesus is King' is set to release a week later on September 27.
