'The twilight years?': Brad Pitt buys $40M home in Carmel-by-the-Sea, lets out his Los Angeles mansion
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brad Pitt, 58, has let out his 28-year-old compound in Los Angeles, weeks after buying a new home in Carmel, a luxury coastal town in California. Carmel is informally known as the land of residence for ageing Hollywood legends. Some of the names associated with it are Betty White, Clint Eastwood and Doris Day.
Brad's Los Angeles compound, which he has inhabited for 28 years, comprises five mansions. He also used to share this very same compound with his ex-wife Angeline Jolie and their six children: Maddox, 21, Pax,18, Zahara,17, Shiloh,16, Vivienne,14 and Knox,14.

This move would also make it hard for Brad to visit his children, since Carmel-by-the-Sea is atleast a five-hour drive off West Coast, where they live with their mother.
Brad's new home, called Seaward, earlier belonged to American author DL James, best known his novel 'Famous All Over Town'. The Sun reported that Brad purchased it for an estimated $40M and is notably the most expensive purchase of a property in the area. A mortgage agreement available to the public revealed his plans to rent out his LA home. The move may also symbolise the 'Fight Club' actor's slow and steady move away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood and into a quiet retirement.
This purchase is a nod to Brad's taste in property. While most celebrity homes are really expensive yet minimalist, he has has always splurged on architecturally rich and sound homes. Seaward, or the DL James Home as it is fondly called, is no exception. Seaward is known to be one of California's greatest architectural treasures, designed by Greene and Greene. The home was most recently owned by financier Joe Richie, who died recently.
What's also eerie about this purchase is that the home's original owner DL James is first cousin to Jesse James, whom Pitt played in the 2007 movie 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford'. A total $17.5M as credit willc ome from Canadian Bank, CNB (City National Bank) famously known as the "Bank to the Stars." Brad was most recently seen in the action flick 'Bullet Train' alongside Joey King, Bad Bunny and Sandra Bullock.
