Brad Pitt did not try to visit eldest son Maddox at university while traveling overseas: 'There's been no contact'
Brad Pitt's relationship with his and ex-wife Angelina Jolie's eldest son Maddox is as icy as ever, with the 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' star reportedly not visiting the 18-year-old at the Yonsei University in South Korea even though he was traveling overseas.
"Brad didn’t try to see Maddox," a source told Us Weekly. "There’s been no contact between them." Pitt and Maddox have spent almost no time together since an alleged altercation aboard a private plane in 2016, but the source added that the 55-year-old actor has still has not given up hope on reconciling with his son.
"Brad’s hopeful that as soon as his son gets older, they’ll become close again," the source said.
Pitt and Jolie, once a power couple who went by by the moniker 'Brangelina' split up in 2016 after spending more than a decade together, including two years of marriage, and went through a messy divorce.
The divorce, which was finalized in 2019, involved a messy custody battle for their children -- 18-year-old Maddox, 15-year-old Pax, 14-year-old Zahara, 13-year-old Shiloh, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
While Pitt was legally allowed to get time with his kids as per court order, Maddox was seemingly exempt because it was ruled that he was old enough to make his own decision regarding meeting his father.
Just this past September, he seemed apprehensive when asked if Pitt planned to visit him at university. "I don’t know about that [or] what’s happening," he said, before answering a question about whether his relationship with Pitt was over and saying, "Well, whatever happens, happens."
The actor's relationship with his other children, however, appears to be relatively intact and he will be spending Christmas Eve with Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. Zahara spent a few hours with him last year as well, and the source said Pitt no longer pushes for her, Maddox or Zahara to come to visit him as he realized it makes everyone uncomfortable and "because they’ve already been through so much."
