Boy, 8, sitting in McDonald's bitten by rat the size of a 'small puppy', angry dad approaches cops
TELANGANA, INDIA: In a shocking incident in the Indian city of Hyderabad, an eight-year-old boy was bitten by a rat at a McDonald’s. The boy's father filed a complaint with the police, who have registered the case. The incident has gone viral as the boy’s father shared CCTV snaps of the incident unfolding in the restaurant on Twitter. Savio Henriques had described the rat to be about the size of a "small puppy," as per the police report filed.
Henriques had said that he had gone to eat at the outlet with his wife and son when the rat ran out of the washroom and came directly for his son, eight-year-old Dwayne. The child screamed, horrified as the rat climbed up his leg and bit him. He quickly came forward to help his child as he picked up the rat and threw it away before comforting the little boy. According to Times Now, Henriques had said that the shocking incident left his wife and son mentally scarred and “traumatized.” He had also made sure to let it be known that the staffers did nothing to help and just stared at what was happening.

Henriques had posted the incident on his Twitter handle and tagged governmental authorities along with the McDonald’s page themselves, calling for action to be taken against the outlet for their inaction.

In the complaint, Henriques, an army veteran, had said that his son had sustained bleeding wounds on his thigh from the rat bite. He took his son to the hospital for medical assistance, where the boy was administered anti-rabies and anti-tetanus shots.
Twitter erupts over mismanagement of outlet
Henriques’ tweet also had pictures and videos of the incident. He also posted photos of his son's wound and also the CCTV footage of the incident, along with scanned photos of his official complaint. One user commented, “Shocking and scary. Hope kiddo is ok.”
Another user slammed the authorities for the lack of inspections, writing, “The area inspector must visit their area restaurants and Hotels for inspection." Another user said, “This is shocking. That means the food in @mcdonaldsindia kitchens is compromised. We don't know what goes on in those kitchens. Such blatant breach of trust.”

Authorities move swiftly
The outrage had pushed the Food Safety authorities into action, as they sent their officials to conduct an inspection of the premises. A report has also been submitted about the inspection, which will be considered for further action. The Assistant Food Controller GHMC tweeted about the incidenr as well, attaching photos of the inspection taking place.
