'He deserves punishment': Internet 'infuriated' as CCTV footage shows man abandoning German Shepherd on a country road in Texas
DALLAS, TEXAS: A German Shephard was abandoned by its owner on the side of the road in Dallas on Wednesday, March 8. Fortunately, the entire episode was caught on camera, and a barrage of comments from people online have been made in response to the terrified abandoned dog chasing his owner's car.
The footage shows a white Chevrolet SUV being pulled over on the side of the road, the rear hatch is opened, and the dog being pushed out. The man was yelled at by a bystander across the street as he dumped the dog and hopped back into his car, speeding off as the adorable dog tried to go after his owner. The Dowdy Ferry Animal Commission had thoughtfully placed cameras on the Dallas highway to record events like this, and the Dallas Police are currently trying to locate the dog's owner. The event was caught on surveillance footage on Wednesday, March 8 at around 6.45 pm and occurred close to the crossroads of Dowdy Ferry Road and Teagarden Road.

Did the dog suffer injuries?
The German shepherd appeared to be okay other than a leg injury. A couple of onlookers who saw what happened were able to rescue the dog and summon help from the authorities. The dog was picked up by Dallas Animal Services on the evening of Wednesday, March 3.
Authorities are currently looking for the individual who could face charges in relation to this event. In Texas, this kind of animal dumping is considered a Class A misdemeanor. "A crime like this is one of those that's so random that we need the public's help when they see something like, in this case, something suspicious, or they see an act like this taking place," a representative from the Dallas Police Department, Brian Martinez, told WFAA
'Sick to my stomach'
Jeremy Boss from the local animal charity told WFAA, "It makes me sick to my stomach when I see people that will take the time to take their dog, drive out here, and throw it out like trash like Dowdy Ferry is known for."
Boss continued, "That was an intentional dump and he did not want to be caught. And he did not want that dog and he made that clear. People that dump dogs, they have no conscience. Either that or they have no brain. I don't understand the logic in doing it."
'He deserves punishment'
A video that WFAA posted on Twitter has received numerous comments with one person writing, "I'm am literally crying I can't imagine the kind of evil that man had inside him to drive away as he watched the dog chase after him... Without a single care in his absent heart, leaving the dog to get struck by a vehicle on the road. I'm infuriated. He deserves punishment."
Another concerned person wrote, "It should be law that animals can only be sold if they are microchipped." A third person who had saved abandoned dog survivors wrote, "Poor dog. Many had to be picked up by the sheriff but we have taken in 5 dogs that have been dumped here in rural Texas. Here are 2 we kept, and they celebrate their 15th birthday soon. Can not imagine life without them."

"Why not just drop the dog off at the shelter? I don't understand," another person wrote. "I can't stop crying. He chased the car with his tail wagging, my heart is broken," one person wrote. "I’ll take him or her right this second. Just tell me where to go. Which shelter??" another generous person wrote.
