'Black Lightning' Season 3 may see Tobias Whale released by the A.S.A to fight the Markovian invasion but he could cause more harm than good

Considering the dire nature of the threat posed by Markovia, it is likely that Odell might bring Tobias out of imprisonment and unleash him on the foreign enemies. However, Whale isn’t likely to make a very dependable weapon, as he would definitely use any chance at freedom to try and exact revenge.

After reigning as the kingpin of Freeland for the first two seasons of the CW's 'Black Lightning', Tobias Whale (Marvin 'Krondon' Jones III) is now at his lowest point in Season 3. He almost managed to become a true international crimelord in the last season, only to be defeated when Jennifer Pierce/Lightning (China Anne McClain) and her father Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning (Cress Williams) joined forces to take him down and give Tobias a beatdown he won't ever forget.

Now he's a prisoner in the metahuman black site called the Pit and Tobias has been left to ruminate on his failures in solitary confinement. The trailer for Season 3 revealed that Tobias's hatred for Black Lightning and his family is greater than ever now, as is to be expected, and he may also be starting to suffer hallucinations, suggesting insanity. However, even though he may be more desperate and more dangerous than ever, there's a chance Tobias might still see the light of day.

The rogue nation of Markovia and their teleporting assassin Instant (Tosin Morohunfola) were introduced in the second season of 'Black Lightning' and Season 3 will see the country attempting to invade Freeland with an army of metahumans at their disposal. At the end of the second season, Agent Odell (Bill Duke) recruited Jefferson and the rest of his family to join the A.S.A in defending their hometown from the Markovian invasion.

Considering the dire nature of the threat posed by Markovia, it is likely that Odell might bring Whale out of imprisonment and unleash him on the foreign enemies. However, Whale isn’t likely to make a very dependable weapon, as he would definitely use any chance at freedom to try and exact revenge on Black Lightning. Plus, if he really has gone insane after all that time he spent stuck with his own thoughts, there's no telling what sort of trouble he might unleash if given the chance.

'Black Lightning' Season 3 will premiere on the CW on October 7.
