Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell are ALREADY planning a baby, will call him Steve if it’s a boy, says insider
Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell recently tied the knot together in a private and intimate wedding ceremony at the Australia Zoo, last month.
The couple dated for around six years before they decided to get married. It has been reported that the lovebirds are already planning their first child together. It is believed that the pair are making preparations to expand their family, New Idea reports.
The pair have already started to build an animal-themed nursery, an insider added. If the pair have a boy, then the couple will reportedly name him after Bindi's late father Steve 'The Crocodile Hunter' Irwin. "For Bindi, losing her father was incredibly hard... so honoring him in this way would mean the world to her," an insider told the publication.
Bindi's father, the late Steve Irwin had passed away in September 2006 at the age of 44 after being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb. At the time, he had been filming a wildlife documentary in Batt Reef in Queensland.
The couple had also honored Steve at their wedding when they placed a picture of him at the altar and lit a candle in his memory. The 21-year-old 'Dancing with the Stars' winner spoke to People magazine and shared that her father had been "standing right next to" her mother and brother during the wedding ceremony.
"Where we got married was such a special place to dad. It’s a beautiful little area where he had filmed for many years. It felt really wonderful and just meant to be," Bindi shared. "We had dad’s picture with his dog Sui blown up on an easel."
"So mom and Robert were standing right next to dad as we exchanged vows. We had a candle-lighting ceremony for him, and it really felt like he was there with us. It was a lovely moment of peace and happiness," she continued.
Back in 2019, Bindi had shared with Bang Showbiz, "One day it would be special to have my own little wildlife warriors. I think it's a way away right now, but when it does happen, I can guarantee you they'll have their own khaki because khaki is not just a color, it's an attitude."
"We'll take over the world and make a difference together! I'm excited. I have a lot of hopes for the future," she had shared at the time. We had earlier reported that the couple's wedding took place only a few hours before the Australian government announced a lockdown given the coronavirus outbreak.
The couple had earlier planned to tie the knot in a much larger ceremony on April 4. Bindi's mother Terri also paid tribute to her late husband Steve and shared, "Remembering @RobertIrwin’s first wedding. I love that Steve and Robert both wore khaki."
"I know Steve would have worn khaki to Bindi & Chandler’s wedding, too. I wish he could have been there to see the most special day in his daughter’s life. We miss him so much," she shared. Terri also shared an adorable picture of her daughter as a young flower girl at a wedding.
