'No longer diabetic': Billy Gardell shares journey to 150-pound weight loss, says he is 'walking around pretty healthy'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Billy Gardell has opened up about his impressive 150-pound weight loss journey which has resulted in him no longer being diabetic. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 'Mike & Molly' star shared that he now weighs between 205 and 210 pounds and is "walking around pretty healthy these days."
Gardell emphasized the importance of finding inner peace and taking care of oneself. He said, "I think you've got to find peace with yourself and, at some point, look in the mirror and go, you know, it's probably time to take care of you." He also expressed his belief that there is no specific age or time to start taking care of oneself, adding, "Then I didn't get that note early on. So I'm a big believer that when you get it, you get it. It doesn't matter when. As long as you get it."

Gardell also shared that his weight loss journey had a significant impact on his health, as he was able to overcome type 2 diabetes. He described it as the 'biggest win' and stated that his diabetes is now 'gone.' His resting heartbeat also improved from 113 to 68.
Gardell's current diet consists of small and healthy meals, which he jokingly admits is similar to the diets of people he used to make fun of. He has reached a point where he can indulge in small portions of decadent food if he desires. In addition to the health benefits, Gardell expressed gratitude for the new opportunities that have opened up for him since losing weight. He can now shop at clothing stores he previously couldn't, and overall feels healthier and more energized.
Commitment to a healthy lifestyle
Gardell shared that he underwent a gastric bypass operation two years ago. However, he emphasized that the operation was just the beginning of his weight loss journey, stating, "The only thing I would say is to understand that the operation is not the end, it's the beginning." Gardell revealed that he had backed out of the procedure twice before and explained that commitment to a healthy routine was crucial to his success.
He advised against getting the surgery if one was not willing to commit to a daily routine to maintain weight loss. "But if you're ready to commit to that on a daily basis, proof's in the pudding," he added. Gardell stressed the importance of self-care and expressed his satisfaction in finally getting to that point. He humorously admitted that his last vice was smoking cigarettes, but he was working on quitting that too.
