The season premiere of FOX’s brand new reality show ‘The Masked Dancer’ continued for the group B on January 6, 2021, where we saw masked celebrities dressed up in the characters of Ice Cube, Sloth, Cotton Candy, Zebra and Miss Moth. After all the stunning performances by the contestants, the character of Ice Cube, unfortunately, headed back home as he got the least amount of votes on the episode.

During the mask-off, it was later revealed that the celebrity under the huge mask of Ice Cube was none other than Bill Nye, the science guy. He had performed on the postmodern jukebox version of Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’ and out of all the panelists, it was Ken Jeong who guessed it correctly after picking all the right clues broadcasted during the episode. Speaking to TV Insider on why he said yes to ‘The Masked Dancer,’ he revealed, “Because of the pandemic, it took quite a while for the thing to materialize. I like to go dancing. I go swing dancing a couple of nights a week-before the pandemic. If there's a chance to dance, I would take it. It was cool.”

Bill Nye, whose real name is William Sanford Nye, is an American mechanical engineer, science communicator, and television presenter. He is popularly known as ‘Bill Nye the Science Guy,’ which is also the name of his very famous show televised from 1993 to 1998. He was also seen on Netflix show ‘Bill Nye Saves the World’ from 2017 to 2018.

The 65-years-old TV personality started off as an engineer in the mid-‘70s and also applied for NASA’s astronaut training program way back in the ‘80s but after failing to go ahead with it, he steered towards comedy career in 1986. His first big break came with the television show in Seattle called ‘Almost Live!’ and then there was no looking back. From appearances on TV shows to writing two bestselling books on science namely ‘Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation’ and ‘Unstoppable: Harnessing Science to Change the World,’ he did it all under the sun.

He also hosted the short education show ‘Fabulous Wetlands’ in 1989 which was sponsored by the Washington State Department of Ecology. Apart from his TV shows, Bill Nye also starred in a documentary about his life and science advocacy aptly called ‘Bill Nye: Science Guy,’ which premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March 2017.
