#FreeBritney: America furious Bill Cosby released and pop icon remains trapped
Pop icon Britney Spears' request to remove her father Jamie P. Spears as her conservator was shot down by the court on June 30. Jamie still remains in control of her $60 million fortune as well as other aspects and assets in her life. This, despite massive campaigning and outrage by Britney fans all over social media and the pop star's deeply personal and tragic account of how the conservatorship has and continues to affect her day-to-day life for the past 13 years. This sparked the #FreeBritney movement once again and it became the biggest trend on Twitter.
Another event that has sparked massive outrage amongst the people is actor/comedian Bill Cosby's release from prison. He served three out of his 10-year sentence handed out to him in 2018 for aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constad at his Philadelphia home in 2004. Cosby's spokesperson had said his trial was one of the most "sexist and racist" in American history. A smiling mugshot of the actor that was released in October 2020 left people seething with anger and he was name-called a lot after that. On June 30, Pennsylvania's Supreme Court overturned his conviction and declared him a free man. Twitter-verse took offense to the fact that Cosby was released but the judicial system couldn't do justice when it came to the pop star.

'Bill Cosby is free but Britney isn't'
"Bill Cosby is free but Britney isn't, something is wrong with this #FreeBritney" read a tweet by an angry fan. "The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice," the court documents stated. "I shouldn’t be in a conservatorship if I can work and provide money and work for myself and pay other people. It makes no sense," Britney had said in her 24-minute address to the court requesting them that her conservatorship be terminated. "June 30, 2021 - The day that Britney Spears was not freed but Bill Cosby was. If ever you needed a wake-up call as to just how broken the justice system is, this is it!" read another tweet. "Bill Cosby is free. And Britney Spears isn't. America...what a country," read another tweet by a fan of the 'Toxic' hitmaker.

And Britney Spears isn't.
America... what a country. 🤷♂️
Britney is yet to comment on her request being shot down by the court. Bill Cosby too hasn't spoken to the media regarding him being declared a free man. The 83-year-old made a brief appearance outside of his home in Pennsylvania but did not speak to the reporters. However, he did address his release from prison on his Twitter page. I have never changed my stance nor my story. "I have always maintained my innocence. Thank you to all my fans, supporters and friends who stood by me through this ordeal. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law. #BillCosby" he tweeted.
