Betty White died on December 31, 2021, just 17 days short of what would have been her 100th birthday. The Hollywood icon died of natural causes at her home in Brentwood, California. The funeral of Betty White is now being planned. However, unlike other celebrities, the late actress will have a private funeral ceremony. A longtime friend and rep of the late actress, Jeff Witjas, spilled the beans to People magazine revealing that Betty White’s funeral will be a very personal affair. Speaking of her death, the ‘Hot in Cleveland’ star’s last word was “Allen” as revealed by her friend and Mama’s Family” co-star Vicki Lawrence. Allen Ludden was Betty White’s third husband who died at the age of 63 from stomach cancer in 1981.

Why Betty White will have a private funeral?
While a majority of celebrities have a public funeral with their fans also participating in it, Betty White apparently had different plans. According to Jeff Witjas, she never wanted to make a fuss over her. Speaking to People magazine, Jeff asserted, “The arrangements are being handled privately and that was Betty's wish”, adding, “As in life, she never wanted people to make a fuss over her."
When is Betty White’s funeral?
The private ceremony is still being planned. There is no official confirmation from Betty White’s team as to when will her funeral take place. Speaking on the funeral arrangements, Jeff recently told ET that arrangements were being made. He added, “Everything being done is being followed by her choices. I’m not involved in that part, but she never sat with me and told me, ‘Jeff, when I pass, this is what I want.’ I didn’t want to go there a lot with Betty…I’m sure she had certain wishes, but I did not talk to her about that.”
Who all will attend Betty White’s private funeral?
Since Betty White’s funeral is going to be a very private affair, it is very unlikely to see the who’s who of the industry. The late star’s funeral is expected to be attended by her close friends and family. However, her fans already decided to pay her homage with the #BettyWhiteChallenge. It says, in Betty's honor, a person must pay $5 to any local animal rescue shelter.
